Looking for a safe female environment that upholds women’s reproductive health? You’re in the right place!
In today’s review, we’ve selected the best abortion clinics in Toronto. We’ll help you find the place for a safe, guilt-free, and health-focused abortion.
The Cost of Abortion in Toronto
A typical abortion procedure can cost you $450 to $900 in out of pocket expenses. If you do have an OHIP, your procedure is fully covered.
Just note that some clinics have uninsured services, meaning the OHIP may not fully cover your total expenses. For instance, some clinics may charge around $60 for additional charges like admin fees.
The Best Abortion Clinics in Toronto
We used the following criteria to come up with this list:
- All-women clinic. We know that most patients would feel more comfortable and safer around staff that can empathize with their situation. Since most of the women we polled said they preferred to deal with other women for this, we made it a criterion.
- Availability of counseling services. In matters like these, support and help are necessary,so we looked for clinics that can offer constant guidance.
- Gestation periods treated. All the clinics we chose can deal with early pregnancies of at least four weeks.
1. Choice in Health Clinic

SERVICES | Abortion, counseling and health systems navigation, birth control, STI testing |
WEBSITE | https://choiceinhealth.ca/ |
ADDRESS | 1678 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M6P 1A9, Canada |
CONTACT DETAILS | +1 647-370-3203 |
OPERATING HOURS | Monday: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM Thursday – Friday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM |
Established in 1988, CIHC treats women, trans people, and gender-diverse individuals in need. Their model of care seeks to combine services with counseling to deal with various needs.
The clinic offers three different types of abortion. These are Surgical Abortion, Medication Abortion, and Virtual Medication Abortion.
Surgical abortion is your best option if you’re only pregnant for 4 to 15 weeks. The procedure takes only about 5 to 10 minutes and you’ll be well enough to get back on track the following day.
Just note that in this particular clinic, you have to be in the clinic for three to four hours. During this period, you’ll undergo bloodwork and ultrasound.
Unlike surgical abortion, medical abortion is a process that takes multiple days to complete. Think of it as a way of pushing a miscarriage at a slow and steady pace.
They’ll give you two medications that you’ll take on two different days. You’ll bleed for about two weeks, which is normal as it empties your uterus.
This method is more suitable for pregnancies of up to 10 weeks. Expect to spend three to four hours at their clinic too for ultrasound and bloodwork.
The virtual medication is similar to the first one except for two things. One, this is remote medication, and two, it doesn’t involve prior testing.
Under this, you’ll have the option to pick up your medications or have them delivered to you. Virtual medications take place via video calls.
Apart from abortion, the clinic also offers other services that make them one of the best, in our opinion. Pre and post-abortion counseling services here are free as well as early-pregnancy loss counseling.
They have a registered psychotherapist on board who is available every Monday by appointment via telephone or video. They also have health system navigation to help people with referrals, financial aid, and more.
Pros
- Offers three different types of abortion procedures
- Virtual medication abortion available
- Option to have medicines picked up or delivered
- Free pre and post-abortion counseling services
- Free early pregnancy loss counseling services
- Has a registered psychotherapist on board
- Counseling services available via phone or video
Cons
- Limited availability
- Can be difficult to contact at times

Wonderful experience for all patients
I was so scared and nervous already about the procedure I don’t like telling people because I don’t want them judging me. When I walked in I was instantly greeted by a girl with exitment and she assured me everything would be okay. All the staff are wonderful people who look out for their patients and make sure if you want it confidential they will. They made a rough experience turn into a decent one – Sarenity Storey

OPERATING HOURS | Monday – Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Friday & Saturday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM |
Bloor West Village Women’s Clinic is a center run and owned by female physicians. They deal with both unwanted pregnancies and complications arising from wanted pregnancies.
They have two of the most common methods of abortion: Surgical and Medication. Both procedures are fit for early pregnancy to the late second trimester.
All abortion services here don’t require parental consent so no one can know about your procedure. They take privacy to the next level too as they won’t reveal any of your information unless you give written consent.
Their surgical abortion is one of the fastest we’ve encountered as it only takes three to five minutes. Of course, you’ll be given time to recover and rest in their post-op area.
If you’re more suitable for medication abortion, they’ll dispense the pills to you directly at the clinic. They use Mifegymiso (called the abortion pill), which is covered by OHIP.
Speaking of pills, they have an on-site laboratory and pharmacy in the clinic. This makes the process more convenient for all clients of medication abortion.
What makes this clinic stand out is its location. Remember, you may not be able to drive for 24 hours after your procedure. Fortunately, the Subway (TTC) is directly across from their building.
As per appointments, it would generally take them one to two days to accommodate clients. But it’s also possible for same-day appointments as long as they have a slot for you.
In addition to abortion services, they also counsel patients prior to the procedure. If you’re interested, they can also walk you through birth control options such as hormonal contraceptives or IUD insertion.
Pros
- Deals with early pregnancies up to the late second trimester
- Surgical abortion takes three to five minutes
- Has on-site laboratory and pharmacy in the clinic
- Location is directly across the Subway (TTC)
- Same-day appointments possible
Cons
- Long waiting times
- Usual appointment confirmation can take up to two days

Understand patients’ situation
This is a late entry, I finally got the time to rate their services. The workers; nurses, front desk, secretary, doctors there all work as one team and the doctors are so patient and kind. They really do make you feel welcomed and they take the time to understand your situation and acknowledge that we are all human beings, we are all women, and are there to help. They’ve kept updated with me even when it was out of their hands to ensure that I was okay. I’d like to thank everyone there for their support and kindness. They really did go the extra mile. – Teresa Phung
Goes above and beyond to deliver the best care
Above and beyond does not even begin to explain it. I went to this women’s clinic to have IUD contraception placed. They walked me through everything, were so compassionate, patient and kind. I went in shaking and terrified and they made me feel comforted, cared for and assured me the whole time. Nurse Wanda, Dr. Cristina Pop, the nurse answering the phone Margi, the woman at the front door and all the women working in this clinic are superheroes and it gives me hope to see women helping other women and being so encouraging and patient. If you ever have a need, I would highly recommend this clinic to other women who might be experiencing stress or concern about sexual health. – Sarah Strickland

Comfortable and positive experience
Came here for my first IUD insertion and had a really positive experience. Super quick, and the staff does a very thorough job of letting you know what’s going to happen. They did a lot to make me feel comfortable and offered me stuff for possible pain. I especially loved that it was an all-female staff (from what I could see) and that the doctor I saw had been practicing in this field for 30+ years. Overall, felt like a really safe space. – Leah Alexa
Knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate
I’m not sure why there are so many low star reviews. This place is absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend it to any of my friends or just anyone in general who is going through with an abortion. I have been here twice already and each and every time I was well taken care of. The receptionist are so sweet. The nurse who speak to you before is extremely knowledgeable and caring/compassionate. The doctor who does the procedure and her nurses are nurturing and caring towards your body and situation. The aftercare is comfortable and they give you cookies and water to relax until you feel better. I have not one bad thing to say about this place. They made me feel comfortable and were very nice to me. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Thank you all – Camille Lopez
