The Cost of Seeing a Pediatrician in Toronto
If you have a newborn baby, you will be given a temporary OHIP number. Make sure that you register this as soon as possible so you can obtain a permanent OHIP number.
Note that not all services provided in a pediatric clinic are covered by OHIP but still, make sure that you bring it every time you visit! If the OHIP is invalid then you will be charged directly by the clinic anyway.
If your child has private health insurance, you can reimburse the costs depending on the coverage. Out of pocket, visits to the pedia can cost from $60 to $100.

Kidcrew Medical is a pediatric clinic that offers a wide range of services for kids. Other than treatments and disease diagnosis, they also provide support for child psychiatry, physiotherapy, sports medicine, sleep therapy, and more.
With more than 50 doctors specializing in various areas, it’s safe to say that they can see your kid for whatever concern you might have. And if your go-to pediatrician isn’t there to see you at the moment, there are always other doctors to fill the spot.
One of our greatest concerns is the relationship between the pediatricians and the kid and their parents. As far as patient reviews go, most of the clients praised the clinic for being an accommodating space – plus certain tests were done in a quick, painless way too.
Speaking of the clinic, the location gives off a fun and youthful energy, which is what we’ve expected, truthfully. However, we have a few concerns regarding in-clinic visits which we think can be an inconvenience to new clients.
In recent months, there have been some changes wherein new patients can’t be accommodated due to various reasons. Instead, they’re encouraged to use the virtual care visit program of the clinic to see an on-call pediatrician.
Fortunately, the virtual care visits remain one of their best advantages so we have no qualms in that area. Plus, it adds more versatility in scheduling, while receiving the same type of care in an in-clinic setting.
We ask you to be courteous to them and others by providing them 24 hours notice on cancellations as late arrivals, missed appointments and cancellations will be subject to charges (regular check-up $70.00, consultations $175.00).
Pros
- Wide range of child-related medical services
- Big team of doctors and medical professionals
- Reliable virtual care visits accessible for all patients
Cons
- Booking can be difficult for new patients
- Minor issues on appointment setting

Bloorkids features a team of doctors and other health specialists to provide support in all aspects of child care. You can take your kid here for developmental pediatrics, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and more.
Although their areas of specialization are relatively few compared to other clinics, they already hit all the major concerns for child health. Plus, the highly skilled and well-trained professionals master their specialities well, ensuring high-quality care.
In terms of patient relationships, we’re pleased to note that all the professionals aren’t just friendly, they’re also insightful. So during your visits, you can get specialized advice for your kids that are meant to complement their progress.
Out of the clinics we featured on this list, this clinic has one of the most convenient appointment systems we’ve encountered. They can get back to your request in one to two days which isn’t the fastest, but at least you don’t have to wait weeks just to get a spot.
The only issue is, their available hours are fairly limited since they’re only open on the weekdays. The weekends would’ve been a convenient time considering kids don’t have school during those days.
Nonetheless, it isn’t a major red flag at the moment since their schedules are still pretty flexible at the moment. Additionally, the clinic has an inviting atmosphere which will make the wait worth it in our opinion.
Pros
- Concentrates on major areas of pediatric care
- Convenient location and appointment system
- Clinic has high-tech equipment and a pharmacy
Cons
- No options for virtual care

Roundhouse Pediatrics offer comprehensive pediatric services from primary care to urgent needs. There are also counseling services available to address issues such as anxiety, depression, substance use, and more.
Unlike clinics on our list, Roundhouse is relatively small considering its team size. On board, they currently have its founder, Dr. Saxena, as the sole pediatrician (the rest are administrative staff assisting in the services).
Whatever the clinic lacks in size, Dr. Saxena makes up for delivering top-notch services in an attentive manner. Our favorite thing about him is his wit and his ability to make both kids and parents laugh by being jolly all the time.
One the flip side, the clinic no longer accepts new patients for primary (as with the case in most pediatric clinics). They are, however, open for urgent needs (rashes, colds, injuries, etc.) both in-clinic and in a virtual setup.
Regardless of the setup you prefer, you still have to attend an initial assessment via phone or video. The doctor will let you know if any in-clinic visit will be necessary, eliminating the risk of making unrequired trips.
In terms of availability, their operating hours are a bit limited but aren’t always full or busy. Basically, there’s always a large chance to make same-day appointments possible at any time they’re open.
Pros
- Can be easily contact for urgent needs
- Virtual care visits available
- Booking new counseling with or without referrals
Cons
- New clients can’t book for primary care as of writing

Appointment setting and location | ★★★★★ (3/5) |
Kindercare Pediatrics provides comprehensive pediatric care with its multidisciplinary team. You can get major services such as primary care, pediatric neurology, child psychology, dietician services, and more.
Right off the bat, one of their best advantages is that they still accept new patients. Normally other clinics are already closed for primary care for new patients, so knowing that they’re still open is a big plus.
Other than that, they have a big team that can accommodate your needs or various concerns. Apart from pediatricians, there are also nurses there and other support staff who can address your queries once you’re there.
However, we don’t feel like you’re receiving wonderful treatment in terms of communication. Well, the staff isn’t rude – it’s just that most of the things in the clinic are automated and self-service which makes interactions hard.
Plus, they only entertain questions and requests via email when a phone call would’ve been more convenient. Fortunately, they make up for it with their fast response time and it’s possible to get an appointment within the day.
Additionally, the level of care that they offer is phenomenal from start to finish. Many clients described the pediatricians as attentive, caring, knowledgeable, and just overall nice people to talk to.
Pros
- Accepts new patients for primary care
- Fast response and appointment setting
- Big team of medical professionals
- Short wait times
Cons
- Only entertains queries and concerns via email

Another noteworthy thing is that they are able to make same-day appointments possible, given that you call early in the morning. And if you come on time, you’ll see the doctor shortly because the waiting times are short.
However, there are certain instances wherein clients experience late visits. This is mostly because the patients are late for their set appointments but we understand how this can be frustrating for most patients.
