Within my friend group, three of us have the same birth month. And over time, this has kind of developed into its own thing, where we all celebrated together on a certain day.
This year, we decided to go all out and invite almost every person we know. The idea was to throw a huge joint party to commemorate one another and our lasting friendship.
Naturally, we couldn’t just do it anywhere — we had to find a venue that could accommodate our loved ones and all the dancing we plan on doing. That’s how I ended up looking for some of the most in-demand event spaces here in Toronto.
How much does it cost to rent an event space in Toronto?
In Toronto, renting an event space can cost anywhere from $150 to $3,000 per hour. The final rate will depend on the size of the venue, its popularity, amenities, and the number of guests you plan on inviting.
1. The Loft On King Street

The Loft On King Street is the kind of place that’s versatile enough to host any type of event, from intimate weddings to corporate holiday parties.
It can house around 80 to 200 guests, depending on how you set up the space. And if you need more, you can extend the layout with the rooftop patio and a dining room.
We love that renting this venue means getting to work with some of the best event planners in the city. These experts will be there to guide you with the menu, provide vendor referrals, and assist with planning the seating arrangements.
Similarly, their on-site staff is very attentive to the needs of guests. They’re always ready to help and even have a coat check service that has impressed a lot of previous clients.
The only catch is that the food you serve has to come from their in-house catering. Clients aren’t allowed to bring in their own refreshments.

2. A Event Space

A Event Space is known as one of the most cost-effective options in the city, since its basic package includes nothing but the location. It’ll essentially be a blank canvas for you to decorate.
This doesn’t mean you won’t have anything to work with; instead, you get to choose from add-ons. Some examples of this would be more staff, security, or their catering service — though you’re free to hire your own too.
We honestly think it’s great that it’s such a highly customizable space, especially because they have tons of equipment available for rent. You’ll just have to coordinate with their team on what you’ll need, such as lighting systems, projectors, and tables.
And if it’s organized well enough, the venue can fit up to 200 people. However, we do want to warn you that it can get very hot inside. Their limited fans and air conditioning units don’t really do much during the summer.

3. Vista Event Space

Vista Event Space is an open concept venue that can easily house up to 100 people. Over the years, plenty of birthdays, bar mitzvahs, and corporate parties have been held here.
It’s also pretty popular for weddings, since they have a stunning vanity room. This facility often features an elegant backdrop, making it ideal for tons of pictures of the celebrants and their guests.
Attendees will all be taken care of with delicious meals and refreshments from the space’s massive catering bar.
For a more premium experience, we recommend going for their VIP package. It comes with a dedicated lounge area, equipped with awesome entertainment amenities like a huge screen and table soccer for some friendly competition.
But as perfect as this place sounds, there’s just one downside: it’s not very wheelchair accessible. Partygoers will have to climb some steep stairs just to reach the venue.

Toronto Event Space Rentals is one of the best choices for more intimate gatherings, with its facilities accommodating around 40 people at most.
You won’t have to worry about party crashers at any point, since you can set a personalized PIN access code for the door. This way, you can ensure that the party stays private and exclusive.
Inclusivity, however, is not an issue, with multiple elevators and ramps all over the facility. We’re very happy that wheelchair users won’t have problems navigating the building.
For maximum comfort, you can work with one of their staff members to determine the optimal layout of the space. Everything inside, from the decor to the tables and chairs, is easily movable, making the venue quite flexible.
Just remember to be a bit mindful about your noise levels, since they’re a bit strict about this. So, for those planning to get a DJ or a live band, maybe try somewhere else instead.

The Symes is a restored historic building, constructed during the Art Deco era. Today, they’ve maintained the historic look of the place, but upgraded the inside to have more modern amenities.
Customers who rent this space often choose to go with minimal decor, and it’s not hard to see why. The vaulted ceilings, exposed brick, and decorative windows are enough to take anyone’s breath away.
It’s also worth mentioning that this venue is so spacious that it can fit up to 750 guests. Some events were even able to fit huge art installations and luxury vehicles inside.
Let’s just hope that you get matched with one of their friendly coordinators. Some clients have had to deal with professionals who were described as snobby and pretentious.
Thankfully, they tend to be very dependable during the actual function. Staff members are attentive, detail-oriented, and committed to making your celebration go as smoothly as possible.

“We loved having our wedding at the Symes! We hosted out ceremony and cocktail hour downstairs and moved the party upstairs for the reception. The brick and open space allowed us to bring our vision to life. The lighting is incredible and the rooftop terrace upstairs made for the perfect outside space for a dancing break. The staff are also amazing – Namita helped us from the beginning and was outstanding, and everyone on her team were instrumental in having our day run smoothly. Can’t recommend it enough!”
