We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Markham is the high-tech capital of Canada, boasting big names like IBM, AMD, and CGI. So, imagine our surprise when we learned that it’s also a culinary hotspot!

One night, our buddies took me and my friends to this cute little restaurant tucked away in the heart of Markham. The food was so good, and every bite felt like heaven.

Because we had such a lovely dinner, we couldn’t wait to try more spots in the area. Fueled by our glutto—I mean, insatiable appetite for discovery, we asked local foodies for their top picks of Markham eateries.

The next day, our epic food journey began, exploring these amazing restaurants suggested by those who know Markham’s culinary scene like the back of their hand.

Now, we present to you the fruits of our labor—the best of the best restaurants in Markham. Trust me, it was tough work, but someone had to do it. Enjoy!

Hailing all the way from Sichuan, China, Haidilao Hot Pot has become a global sensation with over 1,700 stores spanning four continents.

Imagine diving into a bubbling cauldron of spicy mala broth, perfectly complementing the succulent Wagyu beef—yum!

Order straight from an iPad while the food magically appears before you. Oh, did I mention the serving robot?—It’s like something out of a sci-fi flick!

Ladies, they’ve got your back with hair ties, and the kiddos are sorted with toys. Plus, they even hand out aprons and tissues for the table.

And don’t even get me started on the staff’s fun noodle dance—this unique and quirky cultural show can’t be found elsewhere.

Now, a heads up for those bringing their own cars, parking can be a bit of a challenge.

Also, keep in mind that, unlike some hot pot spots, there’s no all-you-can-eat option here. But, trust us, they’re certainly worth it!

Address: 3989 Hwy 7

Hours: Mon – Sun: 11 AM – 2:30 PM, 5 PM – 10 PM

Xiang Zi claims to be the most authentic high-end hotpot joint in North America, and we think they live up to the hype!

In terms of ambiance, this place is like stepping into Old Chengdu itself, with jaw-dropping design across two floors.

On to the food—all their seasonings are sourced from the largest spice base in Sichuan, and their master chefs fry them up for hours to perfection.

The result? Decades worth of flavor in every bite, fit for the most distinguished guests.

We also saw endless menu options—from protein to veggies to noodles to sauces, they seem to have it all.

But the real magic happens at the all-you-can-eat buffet station. Choose from four different bases to cook your goodies in, including tomato soup and xiangzi spicy soup (our favorite!).

With over 300 ingredients to choose from, including lobster and marble beef cubes, you’re in for a treat, my friend.

We have to say, Bingz knows a thing or two about crispy burgers. We love their freshly baked crispy outer shells stuffed with rich meat fillings—so addicting!

But that’s not all they’ve got—from classic noodles, wontons, and soups to spicy hot fries, their menu has something for everyone. Did I mention you can upgrade your soda to a plum cold brew for a refreshing and traditional treat?

Of course, don’t forget to ask for chili oil on the side for an extra kick.

But our fave is their awesome Monster Burger—it has two patties, tender brisket, cheese, onion rings, caramelized onions, and even a fried egg!

Now, if you’re a seafood fan, you gotta try their lobster mac and cheese—it comes with a whole lobster tail and is herb-crusted to perfection. Just a heads up, it’s a big, hearty dish, so you might wanna share.

Speaking of pure bliss, we tried their tender and gloriously fatty striploin served in sizzling hot butter, and it was heaven. While it may come with a kinda high price tag, it’s definitely worth it!

And seafood lovers should try their lobster mac n cheese—it’s absolutely delicious.

Ruth’s Chris isn’t just about steaks and seafood. They also serve up some tasty vegetarian dishes for those looking for meat-free options.

Brown Donkatsu & Ramen is an awesome pork cutlet wonderland straight from South Korea. They’ve been slinging pork cutlet perfection since 1986, winning awards left and right.

A must-order is their crispy cheesy katsu. None of that regular breadcrumb stuff here—their secret is that they actually make their own bread and shred it up for that extra crunch.

Plus, their legendary sliced pork cutlet is filled with gooey mozzarella cheese and served with cranberry sauce and their special brown katsu sauce.

And it’s not just about katsu—they’ve got killer ramen and soba noodles too, plus shareable appetizers like gyoza, takoyaki, and breaded fried shrimp.

Make sure to ask for the complimentary roasted brown rice tea, pickled radish, and miso soup that come with most dishes. They’re the cherry on top of an already amazing meal!

Peter’s Fine Dining certainly lives up to its name!

First off, the vibe here is amazing. It’s got that classic, old-school charm that’s hard to come by these days—think crystal chandeliers, elegant paintings, and a cozy stone fireplace.

The staff are also dressed to impress, adding to the fancy feel.

As soon as we plopped down, a wicker basket stuffed with warm, buttery garlic bread and a bunch of pickles and meaty Greek black olives in olive oil magically appeared.

But of course, we came here for their amazing 45-day-aged USDA Prime steaks. I mean, these babies are seriously top-notch.

In fact, if you’re feeling fancy, definitely go for their steak Diane. It’s seared to perfection and drenched in a mouthwatering earthy sauce that’ll have you licking your plate clean.

For dessert, order their classic Bananas Foster. They flambe the bananas tableside in rum, and when paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s pure perfection!

If you’re in the mood for some seriously tasty Colombian cuisine, you’ve got to check out The Toston. This place’s goal is to bring authentic Colombian flavor to Canada, and we think they nailed it!

Let’s start with their empanadas—they’ve got six different flavors, each more delicious than the last. Think of crispy, golden pockets filled with a flavorful beef mixture, served with a side of homemade salsa.

Their arepas are also to die for; fluffy corn cakes topped with all your favorite fixings.

And if you’re feeling extra hungry, you’ve got to try their bandeja paisa—a hearty plate

piled high with sausage, steak, plantains, and pork skin, served with rice and beans.

To end the meal on a sweet note, their Pandebono pastry is quite popular. It’s a cheesy, slightly sweet treat that pairs perfectly with a cup of Colombian coffee.

Founded by Kevin & Jeremy back in 2016, The Poké Box is more than just a trend—it’s a lifestyle. These guys are all about using the freshest, most flavorful ingredients to create meals that not only taste amazing but are also packed with nutrition.

In fact, they carefully handpick their ingredients, teaming up with their suppliers daily to make sure they’re getting the absolute best stuff.

Here’s how it works: you can load up your bowl with fresh toppings, picking two from each portion, like seaweed salad and crab meat, plus extra veggies.

Then, you get to sauce it up with options like spicy mayo or unagi, and top it all off with your favorite garnishes, like fried shallots or nori.

We went for salmon with crab and seaweed salad, topped off with crispy tempura, and it was fire!

They’ve also got gluten-free options available, so everyone can enjoy their delicious poké bowls.

Sushi Umi is a hidden gem in Liberty Square that serves top-notch sushi. So top-notch, in fact, that two-Michelin-star chef Masaki Saito is a regular here, so you know they’re doing something right.

The mastermind behind it all is Ivan Lee, whose passion for sushi started way back when he was just 15. Fast forward to 2020, and Sushi Umi was born!

The vibe inside is super cozy and calming, perfect for a laid-back sushi feast.

And speaking of feasts, their omakase experience is the real deal—for a set price, you get treated to 17 mouthwatering courses, including 10 pieces of nigiri sushi

We also love their sake pairing. Sipping on some premium sake while indulging in fresh sushi? Yes, please!

Ivan’s attention to detail is next level. He makes his own soya sauce and vinegar in-house, and he sources the freshest seafood and rice from Japan.

Porta Via Restaurant is a go-to spot for healthy eats in Markham.

First things first, their sandwiches are absolutely fab. Seriously, the avocado chicken sandwich is fresh, flavorful, and guilt-free—what more could you ask for?

Don’t forget to grab a side of soup to go with it. Trust me, it’s the perfect hearty combo.

They’ve got a ton of veggie and vegan options too. And you can create your own grain bowl, which is a huge win in my book.

Speaking of build-your-own-bowls, we went for the sirloin bowl with extra beef, and we were surprised by the massive portions. The ingredients were also fresh, everything was well-made, and there were plenty of veggies and protein to keep me satisfied.

As the icing on the cake, they hook you up with complimentary coffee—much appreciated!

Don’t worry about parking because it’s free!
