There are times when you want a pro photographer to capture your best angles and direct every pose. But then there are also times when you just want to take control and get creative—that’s where Toronto’s best self-portrait studios come in.
These studios let you be the model and the photographer, with professional setups, cool backdrops, and easy-to-use equipment.
That’s why when my cousin needed new headshots but didn’t want the pressure of a full photoshoot, she booked a self-portrait studio. And she had a blast experimenting with different looks at her own pace.
So, if you’re looking for a fun, way to get stunning photos—whether for your socials, portfolio, or just because—here are the best self-portrait studios in Toronto!
How much does a self-portrait session cost in Toronto?
A self-portrait session in Toronto typically costs between $30 to $150 per hour. Some spots offer budget-friendly options with basic setups, while high-end studios provide pro lighting, backdrops, and editing tools for a premium price.
Many places also have group rates or discounted multi-hour sessions if you want extra time to perfect your shots.
1. Monography

Monography claims to be the first self-portrait studio in North America. Their goal is to give you full creative control and help you snap the best version of yourself.
If you’re into a simple yet sophisticated look, their monochrome session is the way to go. This black-and-white shoot keeps things clean and stylish.
On the other hand, if you want something that really captures your personality, their panchrome session might be more your speed. It focuses on half-body shots, letting your expressions and movements tell the story.
In addition to these, they offer editorial and photobooth-style sessions. And for pet lovers—good news, pets are welcome in all sessions!
Each session includes 25 minutes of shooting time plus 5 minutes for selecting your photos. But, if you need more time, extra people, photo editing, or prints, they’ve got add-on options.
Unfortunately, we heard that the lighting here isn’t always the best.
Really cool and easy self-portrait process!!
“Really cool and easy self portrait process!! The photos are excellent quality and perfect for headshots etc. The 25 minutes go by super fast so be ready / know what you want to take! Also think ahead if you want photos with your hands in them, as you’ll have to be holding the remote to take the photo.”

If you’re looking for a more intimate setting, Room Soul Plus allows up to eight guests, and it’s great for above-the-knee to headshot-style photos. And if you love the idea but prefer a sleek black-and-white version, you’ll want to check out Room Mirror (Mono).
Now, for something easy and extra fun, their Magic Mirror Photo Booth is a must-try. It’s an interactive, full-length mirror that lets you see yourself as you pose.

Their setup is super user-friendly—you’re working with professional-grade cameras and lighting, so every shot comes out crisp and high-quality. Plus, the studio has screens and mirrors to help you see yourself in real-time.
You can choose from two different studio options—the Regular Studio gives you a variety of interchangeable backdrops, so you can switch things up whenever you want.
If you want something with a little more aesthetic flair, the Rose Studio is a great option. It’s decorated with flowers, vases, and platforms, and you can choose either a black or white backdrop.
As for props, they have sunglasses from Eye Got You, a chic chair, and even a Graduation Suite.
Compared to other studios, however, their range of packages is a bit limited.
First self-portrait experience and it turned out amazing
“Fantastic self-portrait studio! It was our first self-portrait experience and it turned out amazing. We had so much fun there. There are two studios and we were in one of them. They have 3 varieties of backdrops. The equipment/interface is very easy to use (basically just need to click and use the touchscreen pad…no brainer!!!). Lighting and settings were very professional and perfect to achieve our desired look (including our puppy! Got a couple of nice shots for our fur kid, too 🙂 And Yesss! They are pet friendly. They even have treats and water for pets. Such a friendly and lovely environment. We will definitely come back for the good vibe and most importantly…the printable memorable moments and portraits!”

Perfect place to come get self portraits done
“Perfect place to come get self portraits done. You can choose from different background colours, you get 30 minutes (which honestly seemed short, but when you’re taking your pictures it’s actually the perfect amount of time!) the best part is, it’s also pet friendly! You can bring your furry friend for your self portraits as well! This was my second time going here and I absolutely loved it! Definitely recommend.”
