5 Best Second Hand Furniture Shops in Toronto That Will Add Character to Your Home

top-second-hand-furniture-toronto
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

My friend recently moved to an unfurnished home in the 6ix, and asked me where to go to furnish her place. Everyone knows that I’m all about sustainability, so I immediately suggested second-hand furniture shops.

Not only will they save you a ton of cash, but you’re also helping the environment by giving old pieces a new life. As a bonus, finding unique, one-of-a-kind pieces is way more fun than browsing generic showroom floors.

It’s a good thing I already know the best ones in the city, so I happily gave her my recos. For those who want to furnish your home for less, and with a whole lot of character, here are the top second-hand furniture shops in Toronto!

High-quality designer pieces, even second-hand, can still command higher prices, often exceeding $500.

How We Chose the Best Second-Hand Furniture Shops in Toronto

Competitive Rates: We compared prices of second-hand furniture to ensure you’re getting the best value for your money.
Quality of Furniture: We assessed the condition and durability of the furniture, ensuring you get pieces that last.
Variety: We looked for shops offering a wide range of furniture styles and types to suit different tastes and needs.
Customer Service: We evaluated the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff to ensure a pleasant shopping experience.
Unique Finds: We sought out stores with unique, one-of-a-kind items that add character to your home.
Delivery Options: We looked into whether the shops offer delivery services to make your purchase more convenient.
Return Policy: We examined the return policies to ensure you have options if you’re not satisfied with your purchase.
Reputation: We researched customer reviews and ratings to find shops with a strong reputation for quality and service.

Parliament Furniture is a family-run shop that’s been around the Cabbagetown neighborhood since 1994.

We love their good selection of living, dining, and bedroom furniture, plus stuff for kids, and accents. They even carry home office and bar furniture.

They’ve got a showroom where you can check things out, but you can also shop online. And their sale section is worth a look—up to 40% off? Score!

The store’s got a friendly vibe, and they seem to really care about their customers. In fact, they deliver and set up your furniture for free—same day if you’re lucky!

However, some people have mentioned issues with the furniture’s quality, like couches that have collapsed. So, while they might have nice deals and service, it’s probably a good idea to give the furniture a thorough inspection before you buy.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Specializes in living, dining, and bedroom furniture
  • Has a showroom and online shop
  • Sale section up to 40% off

Made my home a home

“Love this place. For all my furniture needs. Irma has always been pleasant to speak, too. Even when I’m not buying something. I’d often go in just to say hello. The prices are fair and even do payment plans for you. I’ve purchased things from: tables, bed frames, sofas, bunk beds, lamps, even a futon. I love their selection of carpets and entertainment systems. I’ve been going since I was 17yo. Now I’m 40 and I will still be coming back. Thank you for all you guys have done. Made my home a home. Your delivery guys are top-notch 👍🫰.”

Quantity and variety of new or antique goods is fantastic

“We go here quite often. The pricing system is unique to me. Every couple of weeks every item keeps dropping in price until it reaches the lowest point they will go. But the quantity, and variety of new, or antique goods is fantastic. From furniture, to good quality knickknacks, there is definitely something for everyone.”
