The 5 Best Pharmacists in Toronto Who Go the Extra Mile for Your Health

top-pharmacists-toronto
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Remember that time you just wanted some relief from the sniffles, but ended up with a box of snooze-inducing meds instead? Yeah, me too!

Thanks to the not-so-helpful pharmacist at my local drugstore (seriously, the third time this has happened!), I went on a quest to find the best pharmacists in Toronto. ️

My mission is to find friendly, knowledgeable rockstars who can actually answer your questions and dispense the right meds. After dissecting recommendations from my health-conscious friends, I narrowed it down to the top 5.

So, whether you’re battling a cough, refilling prescriptions, or just have a question about that new supplement, this list is for you! Here are the Toronto pharmacies that won’t leave you feeling drowsy or disappointed.

This cost depends on location, with slightly higher fees in rural areas. Some pharmacies may also offer discounts or waive fees altogether.

How We Chose the Best Pharmacists in Toronto

Expertise: We sought pharmacists with a proven track record and extensive knowledge of medications and drug interactions.
Certifications and Qualifications: We prioritized pharmacists who hold relevant certifications and qualifications from recognized institutions.
Patient Communication: We looked for pharmacists who excel in clear, compassionate, and effective communication with patients.
Up-to-Date Knowledge: We valued pharmacists who stay current with the latest advancements in pharmaceuticals and healthcare practices.
Customer Service: We selected pharmacists known for their exceptional customer service and patient satisfaction.
Medication Management Skills: We considered pharmacists with strong skills in medication management, ensuring patients receive the correct dosages.
Specialized Knowledge: We sought pharmacists with specialized knowledge in areas such as chronic disease management, compounding, or immunizations.

OPERATING HOURSMon - Thurs: 9 AM – 7 PM

Friday: 9 AM – 6 PM

Saturday: 8 AM – 3 PM

Remedy’sRx – Lakefront Medical Pharmacy is independently owned and operated by a local pharmacist and not a giant chain.

We like that they go the extra mile for customers, offering free prescription delivery which is a huge plus these days.

Beyond prescriptions, they can treat minor annoyances like bug bites and allergies, which is handy for quick fixes. They even have a travel clinic that does flu shots and other vaccinations—a one-stop shop for getting trip-ready.

Furthermore, they offer some thoughtful touches, like big print labels and easy-open pill bottles for folks who need a little extra help. That kind of personalization definitely makes a difference.

The only snag I heard about were some mentions of rude staff. Hopefully, that’s not the norm, because otherwise, Remedy’sRx seems to have a lot to offer.

Pros

  • Independently owned and operated
  • Free prescription delivery
  • Offers flu shots and other vaccinations
  • Personalized packaging

Cons

  • Reports of rude staff

Jerry is the best pharmacist I’ve ever spoken to

“Jerry is the best pharmacist I’ve ever spoken to. He’s kind and he really cares about his customer’s well being. I ask a lot of questions and he’s never made me feel like he gets annoyed, instead he takes the time to look into everything and give me the answers that make me feel the most comfortable. I also don’t wait as long as with other pharmacies to pick up my meds… I’m in and out within minutes. He has positive energy and always brightens up my day. I also love seeing Monica, she is really sweet and gets things done quickly.”

Jerry is hands down the best pharmacist I’ve ever been to

“Im not one to normally write reviews but Jerry is hands down the best pharmacist I’ve ever been to. He’s kind, knowledgeable, takes the time, and genuinely cares about you as a person. I always trust that he’s looking out for my best interests and highly recommend him to all.”

OPERATING HOURSMon - Fri: 9 AM – 6 PM

Saturday: 9 AM – 1 PM

Everest Whole Health Pharmacy wants to be your one-stop shop for healthcare. Their goal is to take care of your needs and build relationships with community members.

First off, they fill prescriptions, deliver them, and even have an app for refills—a major plus for busy schedules.

Aside from prescriptions, they can assess and treat minor stuff on the spot. We believe this is perfect for those “ugh, not again” moments when you need a quick fix without a doctor’s appointment.

They even offer HIV testing and management solutions, such as HIV test kits, PrEP, and PEP medications.

If you’re a travel buff, they’ve got you covered too! Their travel clinic offers pre-trip advice, vaccinations, and all that jazz to keep you healthy on your adventures.

The only downside is their limited Saturday hours—we think closing earlier at 1 PM might not work for everyone.

Pros

  • Fills and delivers prescriptions
  • Has its own app
  • Can assess and treat minor ailments
  • HIV testing and management solutions
  • Has a travel clinic

Cons

  • Comparatively limited Saturday hours

Everest is EXCELLENT

“Everest is EXCELLENT — highly recommend for their professionalism and client care! One stop shopping for prescriptions and vaccinations! They also provide consultations for travel requirements for inoculations for specific countries! Thank you!!”

Most responsive, customer centric, and knowledgeable pharmacy

“Probably the most responsive, customer centric and knowledgeable pharmacy I’ve worked with. All the criticism toward the adjacent clinic (excellent care despite the slow response time) is completely offset by Everest. I have a Shoppers 5 minutes away but would rather travel 30 min here for better care & customer service.”

OPERATING HOURSMon - Fri: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Saturday: 10 AM – 1 PM

MisterPharmacist is a convenient onsite and online pharmacy in Toronto’s core.

We like that they deliver prescriptions straight to your door, which is a lifesaver if you’re downtown and short on time. They even offer super-fast delivery for urgent needs, meaning your meds will be delivered in under 3 hours!

Also, they can assess minor issues through an online form, and then prescribe medication if needed—handy for those “drugstore fix” situations. They offer vaccinations by appointment as well, which is great for staying on top of your health.

If you’re looking for medical marijuana, MisterPharmacist can assess you and potentially start you on that journey.

One thing to consider is their opening hours. We noticed that they open a bit later than other pharmacies, so if you’re an early bird, this might not be your best bet.

Pros

  • Onsite and online pharmacy
  • Has emergency delivery services
  • Can assess minor issues and prescribe meds
  • Also offers vaccinations by appointment
  • Can prescribe medical marijuana

Cons

  • Opens a bit later than other pharmacies

Best service that you will never get from a big chain

“I cannot recommend this pharmacy enough! Alex is super friendly and delivers the best service that you will never get from a big chain pharmacy like shoppers. He answers my questions and helps me online through Google chat or SMS, which is very convenient. He is super fast with our refills and delivers them to our door (with a free sample of something!). Once my child needed some cream that he didn’t have in stock and he didn’t save efforts to get it for me asap. High recommended! The best pharmacy!!!”

Ana Aline de Souza, Google Review

Hands down the best pharmacy I’ve ever worked with!

“Hands down the best pharmacy I’ve ever worked with! Alex takes really good care of his customers, always attentive and helpful. The pharmacy also has way better dispensing fee rates than all other chain pharmacies in the neighborhood. Totally recommend it!”

OPERATING HOURSMon - Wed: 8 AM – 5 PM

Thurs - Fri: 9 AM – 5 PM

Saturday: 9 AM – 2 PM

Glengrove Pharmacy prides itself on being a friendly neighborhood spot in Toronto.

They offer the usual prescriptions and over-the-counter meds but go a step further with advice from their healthcare experts. Sounds like they take customer care seriously!

They stock a mix of popular brands and interesting, smaller companies, which we think is cool if you’re looking for something a little different. Plus, everything is competitively priced, so win-win!

They also handle refills, transfers, and free prescription delivery, ticking all the important boxes. And the cherry on top—vaccinations for a whole range of things, from shingles and pneumonia to hepatitis and HPV.

The only catch is we heard stories of rude employees. Hopefully, this is not a regular thing for them.

Pros

  • Provides advice
  • Carries big-name brands and artisan products
  • Competitively priced
  • Refills, transfers, and free prescription delivery
  • Vaccinations available

Cons

  • Complaints about rude employees

OPERATING HOURSMon - Fri: 11 AM – 7 PM

Bloom Pharmacy is a customer-focused spot, and its mission is to provide top-notch care to promote healthy living.

For convenience, they let you submit new prescriptions and refill requests online, saving you a trip. And they handle prescription transfers.

As a bonus, they can treat minor ailments like allergies or UTIs. We think this is handy for those who want to save time and money by not going to a doctor.

They even offer medication reviews and consultations to make sure everything is on track. Another plus is that they accept expired meds and sharps for disposal, keeping your home safe.

We also appreciate their blister pack services for folks who need help managing their medications.

The downside is that they’re closed on weekends, which isn’t ideal compared to other pharmacies with Saturday hours.

Pros

  • Can let you submit new prescriptions and refill requests online
  • Can treat minor ailments
  • Offers medication reviews and consultations
  • Accepts expired meds and sharps for disposal
  • Blister pack services available

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

Owners are the kindest and friendliest people

I’ve been going to Bloom Pharmacy since their location on Fort York and followed them to Queens Quay, even though it is a little out of my way. The owners are the kindest and friendliest people. They are super accommodating and have even delivered me my prescriptions when I couldn’t make in. Their level of service is like no other. I thoroughly enjoy going to this pharmacy!”

Never had such a thorough and compassionate pharmacist in my life

“I have never had such a thorough and compassionate pharmacist in my life. When I am prescribed a new medication, Heba always takes time and courtesy to go over all the dos and don’ts with the drug, and her husband always gives you the warmest Hello whenever he sees you. I appreciate their service to our neighbourhood and will look forward to refilling all prescriptions needs at Bloom.”
