We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Expertise - We chose hotel bars with highly skilled bartenders who craft drinks with precision, creativity, and deep knowledge of spirits.

Ambiance - We picked hotel bars with inviting, stylish spaces that set the mood.

Drink Quality - We selected hotel bars serving consistently well-made cocktails, premium spirits, and thoughtfully curated wine and beer lists.

Service - We looked for friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff who make you feel welcome from the first pour to the last sip.

Reputation - We factored in strong guest reviews, awards, and local buzz that show the bar consistently delivers an excellent experience.

I love hotel bars, don’t you? Regular bars can be great for casual night outs, but hotel bars often feel like a little posh escape.

What’s interesting is that anyone could walk in from anywhere around the world. It’s like people-watching—but with better lighting and fancier glassware.

That’s why when my friend flew in from Singapore, I took him to this gorgeous hotel bar downtown, ordered a couple of signature cocktails, and just let the evening stretch out. It was one of the chillest nights I’ve ever had.

If you also want to have an upscale yet laidback night out, here are the top hotel bars in Toronto you need to hit up.

How much do drinks cost in a Toronto hotel bar?

Drinks in a Toronto hotel bar typically cost between $12 and $20 (standard to premium cocktails). Wine by the glass often starts around $10 to $14, while beer is usually the most budget-friendly option, ranging from $7 to $10.

Cons

FANTASTIC VIBES IN HERE!

“FANTASTIC VIBES IN HERE! Thank you to Connor for the awesome customer experience on Sunday. I was looking for a new spot to get some work done, one that was not too loud, had some nice dark decor, and one where the ambiance would be felt. Look no further than the floral lounge. Great experience and energy amongst these walls. I most certainly will be back.”

Cocktails are delicious and creative

Business Hours: Thurs – Sun: 12 PM – 12 AM

Entering the Royal York Hotel’s Library Bar feels like you’re being transported to the roaring 1920s. You’ll see sleek marble, bold leather, plush velvets, satin fringe, shelves of Canadian literature, and Renaissance art.

Their cocktails are on another level, thanks to award-winning Director of Beverage James Grant. I particularly love their playful menu, with creative themes like Auteurs, Classics, Martinis, Masterpieces, Outlaws, Explorers, and more.

A popular drink is their Birdbath Martini, made with QUILL—a custom-crafted vodka and gin from Niagara master distillers, infused with botanicals and sustainable ingredients.

Just be prepared for a long wait—each cocktail is made with such care that we heard it can take around 20 minutes to arrive. But if you’re in the mood to soak up the atmosphere, we promise that their drinks are worth the wait.

Cons

Best dirty vodka martini in the city

“A hidden gem inside the Royal York — Library Bar is a Toronto classic. If you’re looking for the best dirty vodka martini in the city, look no further. Every cocktail here is thoughtfully crafted, and the drink menu is both elegant and well-curated. What really sets this place apart is the service — Renee’s pour is unmatched, and Joe’s warm smile makes every visit feel special.

This bar is amazing and is SUCH a vibe!

“This bar is amazing and is SUCH a vibe! The ambiance is really 10/10! The food is delicious as well. I came twice while visiting Toronto and tried the burger, Caesar salad, and truffle fries. The drinks are also good. Definitely check this out. The kitchen doesn’t close until 11:40 pm, and the last call for drinks is 11:45 pm.”

Contact Details: (416) 368-2511

Business Hours: Mon – Sun: 6:30 AM – 11 AM, 12 PM – 12 AM

Clockwork Champagne & Cocktails is another bar in the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. While Library Bar leans into old-world refinement, Clockwork feels fresh, bright, and just a touch more whimsical.

Imagine a vintage Pullman train car with modern touches, and you’ll be able to visualize this place. And as a nod to its name, it features a stunning celestial clock.

This bar is also helmed by James Grant, who has several World Class Global Bartender awards under his belt. So expect the menu to be elevated, with champagne, signature cocktails, and seasonal specials.

On weekends, the bar comes alive with live music. And you can also watch out for fun seasonal promos like Champagne and Oyster nights, Pride Month welcome cocktails, and indulgent Seafood Tower and Champagne sets.

The only downside that we keep hearing about is their very slow service.

Pros

Cons

Hands down one of our favourite places to hang out!

“Hands down one of our favourite places to hang out downtown! Try the seafood tower experience, we loved it!! Always great service and some great wines and champagne to taste!”

Contact Details: (416) 362-8439

Business Hours: Mon – Sun: 7:30 AM – 4 PM

Perched on the 7th floor, The Rooftop offers sweeping views of the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower, the Don River, and the city’s east end—all in one panoramic glance. I just love its 360-degree glass facade, pyramidal skylight, and spacious terrace.

If you try just one drink, make it the “Jilly from the Block.” It’s a bubbly mix of Ketel One, Aperol, pineapple, and prosecco that, honestly, feels like a mini vacation in a glass.

Happy Hour runs daily from 4 PM to 6 PM, plus late nights on weekends.

While it’s a stunning venue with on-point cocktails, be aware that after 9:30 PM, they only accept walk-ins, so plan accordingly. We also heard that the staff can feel a bit unfriendly at times, so that’s something to watch out for.

Pros

Cons

One of my favorite spots in the city

“I’m a regular here. One of my favorite spots in the city. Great food, ambiance, and service. Masud and the team here are always prompt and courteous. I’m picky with my diet, and they are always helping with my customizations. Can do everything from a casual meal to a business meeting. Highly recommend.”

Thurs – Sat: 11 AM – 2 AM

Shangri-La Lobby Lounge and Bar is a beautiful space with floor-to-ceiling windows, light grey leather chairs, stunning sculptures, and a lovely Italian Fazioli piano.

This is a popular Happy Hour spot, offering drinks such as prosecco, wine, and signature cocktails like the Queen’s Passion or Summerside Siesta. You can pair it with their Korean wings or sliders, and yummy snacks like edamame and shishito peppers.

As a bonus, Happy Hour food and drinks are priced from only $8 to $13—basically, it’s a classy night out that won’t break the bank. You can experience it from Monday to Friday, 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, plus a late-night round from 10 PM to 11:30 PM.

Just be aware that there have been a few hiccups with reservations. I recommend confirming your booking in advance to save you a trip.

Pros

Cons

There is no lobby bar better in the city than this one!

“There is no lobby bar better in the city than this one! One might think this place could be too stuck up or overpriced, but being a hotel, in fact, it is the complete opposite. They are welcoming, have amazing live music, a lounge area, and a bar ready to serve you! The excellent level of service and the stunning atmosphere they work hard to put together really show how much they value their customers, no matter what.”

– Samantha Chang, Google Review

Absolutely fantastic cocktail lounge and bar

“Absolutely fantastic cocktail lounge and bar. The ambiance and aesthetics of the lounge are impeccable. Walking into the lounge, you’re welcomed by a small koi pond covered with plexiglass. Early in the evening, there’s live piano music, and later on it switches to contemporary lounge music. One of the most impressive features is an elegant gas fireplace, very long and decorative. The drinks, OMG, the drinks are amazing!!! An impressive cocktail menu with a plethora of liquors, wines, and champagne is available. There’s beer too! The staff are very professional and courteous, and most importantly, they’re friendly and responsive. Understand, though, that this is a very popular cocktail spot, so it does get crowded. Have patience and respect, and the staff will reciprocate.”
