My friend recently called me up and invited me to a fitness club. I laughed because, honestly, I’m more of an occasional jogger—but she insisted, so I reluctantly agreed.
As soon as we walked in, I felt like I’d stepped into some kind of wellness wonderland. There was a smoothie bar with rows of organic, brightly colored drinks, and a cozy lounge. And the locker rooms are pure luxury—imagine rain showers, saunas, and even a relaxation area!
One class in, and I was hooked.
Now, I get it—Toronto has some seriously impressive fitness clubs. So if you’re ready to upgrade your workout experience, here’s my rundown of the top fitness spots in the city.
How much does joining a fitness club cost in Toronto?
Some clubs offer drop-in rates and class packages, which can cost between $15 and $40 per session.
Costs may vary, depending on the type and level of amenities offered.
How We Chose the Best Fitness Clubs in Toronto
1. F45 Training
The “F” stands for functional training at F45 Training; their workouts are designed to help you tackle everyday movements while building real-life strength. And as the “45” suggests, the classes pack a full-body workout into just 45 minutes.
Their workouts are crafted by certified trainers who know how to create routines that hit every muscle group. You can choose from resistance, cardio, hybrid, and recovery workouts, so you’re not just doing the same thing every day.
If you’re new to this style of training, F45’s 10-day trial pass is a solid way to see if it’s your vibe.
Their app is another huge perk; it lets you find studios, book classes, join global challenges, and access meal plans and recipes by top dietitians.
One thing to keep in mind—we noticed that F45 isn’t the cheapest option out there.
F45 Yonge and Eg is my favourite gym EVER!
“F45 Yonge and Eg is my favourite gym EVER! I love our community, the overall vibe, awesome workouts and amazing parties!”

Atmosphere is incredibly motivating
“I have been a part of F45 Yonge & Eglinton “family” for more than a year and it’s been life changing. The coaches are very knowledgeable and supportive, always pushing you to do more. The 45 minute sessions are perfect for my busy schedule. I’ve seen amazing improvements in my strength and endurance. But most of all the atmosphere is incredibly motivating and the community vibe makes you feel welcome from day one. I would give 10 stars if I could and I encourage everyone to give it a try regardless if you are a beginner or a fitness expert.”

2. One Academy
One Academy is the kind of fitness club that’s focused on the big picture: building up strength, confidence, and community.
We like their unique 10-class format, which covers a variety of workout styles throughout the week. This means that in just 10 different classes, they manage to hit all the major bases.
If you’re curious to try it, they have a 2-week intro offer with unlimited classes—14 days is plenty of time to dive in and see what the One Academy vibe is all about.
Another perk is their café and lounge. With partners like Village Juicery, Reunion Coffee Roasters, and Drink Well, you’re bound to find something refreshing and healthy.
Plus, the change rooms are thoughtfully equipped with showers, towels, hair dryers, and even body care products.
Note that we heard about the studio’s rude owner, which can be a bit off-putting.

3. Fit Factory
Fit Factory is a gym that prides itself on welcoming members from all fitness levels—whether you’re just getting started or a pro athlete.
Their approach combines a range of workout styles into one signature program, from functional training and HIIT to boxing and even military-style conditioning.
For those looking to get more tailored guidance, they also offer personal training. Impressively, this is backed up by a money-back guarantee if you don’t see progress.
After a tough workout, the recovery lounge with Hyperice massage guns is a lifesaver for loosening up tight muscles—you’ll be ready to go again the next day!
Curious but not ready to commit? Go for their new client offer of 3 classes for $35.
Unfortunately, we heard that the workouts can feel overly intense—something to keep in mind if you’re new to fitness or easing back in.
Fit Factory is by far my favourite
“I’ve tried out many gyms around Toronto and Fit Factory is by far my favourite. Fit factory is inclusive of all people, body types and fitness levels. I have gym anxiety and the instructors here always make me welcome and at ease. Special shoutout to instructors Mikey and Geoff for always being energetic, motivational and personable!”

Best group fitness class I’ve been to in Canada and the US
“The best group fitness class I’ve been to in Canada and the US. It’s a community; where everyone is friendly from the instructors to other students. They remember everyone and no one was left behind. They push you to do better each time. The class is always fun, engaging and challenging. I’m a shy person but the vibe wasn’t uncomfortable or pretentious at all. I had met some amazing people here. The only thing I wish they can do better is having more membership options for people who have to travel a lot and can’t commit to long term contract.”

4. 416 Fitness Club
416 Fitness Club uses functional fitness methods, meaning they’re not just about lifting heavy weights or running miles. They want you to achieve real-world strength, flexibility, and endurance.
We like that every coach here goes through a thorough certification process. This is a big plus in terms of safety and learning proper form.
If you’re interested, you don’t just jump into a group class and hope for the best. They start everyone with a 1-on-1 Free Intro Session, where you’ll talk with a coach about your fitness goals.
Then, you can start with group training, where you’ll have an instant community of training partners who cheer each other on.
If group training isn’t your style, no problem—they offer personal training. They even have nutrition coaching, which is pretty cool.
On the other hand, some customers have told us that their programs were ineffective.
Amazing place to get fit and have fun!
“416 Fitness club is an amazing place to get fit and have fun! All the coaches are great, they will always help you to overcome any difficulties to achieve your goals, very detail oriented, smiling and great professionals overall. Amazing coaches are guarantee of the gym’s reputation! However, 416 is not just a gym, it’s a community that welcomes you the second you walk in! Members are very friendly and fun to workout with! You will always have lots of great events to attend and socialize!”

Great gym, great coaches, and great people
“Great gym, great coaches, and great people. Was new to CrossFit, so i started out with going once a week and jumped gradually to 4-5 times a week! Thanks for everything 416!”

5. Academy of Lions
Academy of Lions is a welcoming community that’s been promoting physical culture and mindful living since 2008.
Their cross-training classes are one of the big draws here. With a mix of strength training and metabolic conditioning, these classes aim to give you a well-rounded fitness experience.
Their MetCon sessions are popular for a reason! Here, they use functional movements with body weight, kettlebells, dumbbells, and more.
And when you’re done with a workout, recharge at their in-house cafe, where you can grab a butter coffee (or my fave, a protein shake!).
New members get a great bonus—46% off their first month. This discount is a solid deal if you’re interested in testing the waters without a big commitment.
One thing to note, though, is the noise level. Since the gym doesn’t have noise insulation, it can get a bit loud, especially during busy times.
By far the best CrossFit gym in downtown Toronto
“This is by far the best crossfit gym in downtown Toronto. The coaching is amazing – everyone is highly knowledgeable, they have specialty coaches in gymnastics, olympic lifting, mobility, stick mobility and strength and conditioning. The atmosphere is friendly and inclusive but also cool. And the community is outstanding. Even if you just drop by for a coffee in the cafe, this is a fun place to hang out for an hour. But take a class! You won’t regret it!”
Lindsay Prajza, Google Review
Group class experience is second to none
“Group class experience is second to none when it comes to personal coaching. People are very friendly here, and the doggos…I’ve attended 2 classes so far and seen different 4-legged doggos laying around lazily.”
