We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

In an age where digital messages dominate, some might think greeting cards are a thing of the past—but I beg to differ.

There’s something special about knowing someone took the time to pick out a greeting card and jot down a few heartfelt or funny words just for you. Those little paper treasures become reminders of the moments and people that matter most.

So, for those of you who still appreciate the art of card-giving (and receiving!), look no further. Here are the top places to shop for greeting cards in the city.

Dollar stores offer budget-friendly options, while boutique shops may offer more expensive, unique cards.

Hanji Gifts is the heart and soul of Hyun Suk and Catherine Choi, a couple whose love story began in South Korea when Catherine was teaching English. It’s a mix of Korean tradition and modern style, offering gifts, stationery, and, of course, greeting cards.

Speaking of greeting cards, they offer a wide range for any occasion. Their birthday cards are a favorite, and their illustrated cards are like little works of art.

What we truly love is their pop-up cards—they’re intricate and downright delightful. From charming flowers and trees to the Toronto Skyline and even the Beatles, these cards are really special.

While many items are imported from South Korea, the shop also supports local talent.

One thing to note is that they have a no refund policy, so be sure you’re in love with your purchase before you head to the checkout.

Pros

  • Wide range of greeting cards for all occasions
  • Known for their delicate pop-up cards
  • Most items imported from South Korea

Beautiful intricate paper cut-out cards

“Very cute Korean stationery store! A little on the pricey side, but you’re not going to find this selection of stationary, paper, pens, pencils, cards, at Chapters. They have beautiful intricate paper cut out cards for birthdays, sympathy, get well, and more.”

Jerusha Chua, Google Review

The cutest stationary place ever!

“The cutest stationary place ever! They have things like stationary, socks, plates, tea sets, etc. Everything is so adorable, if I could I’d buy the entire store. They also offer free gift wrapping! Recommend.”

Founded by Michael Viglione and his wife, Bianca Bickmore, Kid Icarus was born out of their passion for custom printing.

Here, you’ll see rows of greeting cards, all carefully curated. The cards, priced on average between $5-$6, are the heart of the store’s offerings.

They even have their own line of cards, with handmade and letterpress designs that give each card a personal, tactile feel. And they feature their own creations alongside other talented artists.

If you’re an art enthusiast, you’ll appreciate the higher-end art prints available at the shop. They showcase works from artists like Melinda Josie and Gary Taxali.

And the back of the shop—filled with industrial paper cutters, screen-printing setups, and shelves stocked with supplies—is where they undertake custom work.

While we did hear about encounters with rude or unaccommodating staff, this might not be everyone’s experience.

Pros

  • Own line of handmade and letterpress cards
  • Features other local artists
  • Sells higher-end art prints
  • Undertakes custom work

Cons

  • Reports of rude or unaccommodating staff

Their cards and other products are beautiful and unique

“I just took the Screen Printing 101 Workshop and I’m so glad I did. Mike is a fantastic teacher. After the 4-hour hands-on class, I feel ready to construct my own screen printing set up and start practicing on my own, which is just what I was hoping for. Also, their cards and other products are beautiful and unique. I highly recommend Kid Icarus.”

Really go the extra mile and their selection is great

“Really lovely shop and staff! With in-person shopping closed here in Toronto, I placed an order for a greeting card. The store was closed on the day I was hoping to pick it up, but one of the staff offered to walk it over to my house and drop it off. They really go the extra mile and their selection is great – I’ll be back for sure!”

“OMG, I LOVE TOWN, my one-stop shop for the best curated (yes, I used that word) cards and gifts in the city! Shelley Town, the owner, is super personable and knowledgeable about her product lines. I drop by a minimum of every six weeks (my hair salon is on the same block) and love being able to say, “I’m going to TOWN”…literally!”
