The Best Book Printing Services in Toronto That Local Authors and Publishers Love

top-book-printing-toronto
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Finding the right book printer is important. If not, you could end up with a typo on the cover that says “50 Shades of Hay” instead of “Gray”—ouch!

My coworker learned this the hard way when his book turned out to have mismatched fonts and pages printed upside down. It was such a publishing nightmare.

So, to help out budding authors (and anyone who wants their book to look, well, like a book) here are the best book printing companies in Toronto.

How much does book printing cost in Toronto?

On average, printing a standard paperback book in Toronto might cost between $6 to $10 per copy for small print runs. For larger orders, the cost per book can decrease significantly.
Costs can vary widely based on factors like book size, page count, paper quality, and the type of binding. Custom features and higher-end materials can also increase the overall price.

Print Three has been in the game for over 28 years, and they’re a go-to for many in the Toronto book printing and advertising scene.

One of the big pluses of Print Three is their eco-friendly approach. They offer a variety of recycled paper options—a nice touch for eco-conscious authors.

As for binding options, they offer booklets, coils, and cerlox, to name a few. They can also add tabs and inserts, and handle creasing, collating, hole punching, and laminating, for that extra oomph!

And if you’re in a rush, they specialize in last-minute, time-sensitive orders. Just stop by or upload your documents, and they’ll handle the rest.

They also stand by their work with a 100% quality guarantee, promising to reprint any production-related issues.

A major downside is their customer service—we heard that the staff has a reputation for being very rude, not responding to greetings, and generally seeming indifferent.

Pros

  • Over 28 years of experience
  • Recycled paper options
  • Wide range of binding services
  • Specializes in last-minute orders
  • 100% quality guarantee

Cons

  • Reports of rude staff

It was all done quickly, as promised

“It was my first time using Print Three. Every time I called to get more info or to place order online, Eustine was very helpful. I felt comfortable, that my order was in good hands and it was all done quickly, as promised. Very reliable. Thank you for you work!”

The price was very competitive

“I reached out to Print Three (Yonge & Eglinton) via an online request from their website. Within an hour, Bruno from the store reached out to me. By end of that day, be emailed me a sample of what I was looking for. Once he got confirmation, he was able to accommodate my order within a day and a half, where others said it would take up to 5 days. The service and quality were great, it’s exactly what I wanted, the price was very competitive and Bruno was so helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this store and Bruno in particular.”

Established in 2003, Sure Print & Design isn’t exactly printing newbies. In fact, unlike other printing shops, they specialize in books and publications, so they should know their stuff.

We like that they use sustainable paper with recycled content and soy-based inks, which is good for you and the planet.

Their range of specialty cover materials for hardcover books is impressive—cloth, linen, leather, or heavy paper, just to name a few. For softcover books, finishing options like spot UV, embossing, and foil stamping really add a professional touch.

Their digital presses, including models like the Konica Minolta and HP Indigo, are also top-notch. These allow for short-run or print-on-demand products.

Plus, they have a wide range of binding options—16 in total, including perfect bound, thread stitch binding, Smyth sewn, lay-flat, and glue binding. Authors would be spoilt for choice!

However, it’s not all smooth sailing because we heard reports of poorly cut and warped books, which is definitely a concern.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Uses sustainable paper and ink
  • Offers specialty cover materials
  • Wide range of finishing and binding options
  • Top-notch digital presses

Cons

  • Reports of poorly cut and warped books

Offers fast, affordable, high-quality service

“Sure Print & Design offers fast, affordable, high quality service. I love their online tool for getting an instant quote and their rates are the best I’ve been quoted. They are responsive and work with deadlines (they offer rush printing for a fee and it has been so helpful for last minute deadlines that come up). I have been consistently impressed with the quality of the books they have printed and the ease of the entire process. They are my go-to for book and booklet printing needs!”

The finished product was top-notch

“Wow! First time having a ‘book’ printed and Sure Print was awesome! I did my ‘book’ on a tight budget and it was very affordable. Exactly as promised, they were helpful, patient, informative and really a pleasure to deal with, esp. Emily on the chat and Catherine, the Graphic Specialist. Made everything quick, concise and easy. The finished product was top-notch. Any issues were my own! Hope to do this again soon. It was very exciting. No second guesses here, you’ve come to the right place.”

Made our vision come to life with superior customer relations

“Truly a seamless experience from beginning to end. Mark made our vision come to life with superior customer relations, including courtesy calls during and after the job to ensure satisfaction. We needed a large run of books with high quality at a moderate rate, and that’s exactly what we got. I would absolutely recommend TLAC to anyone looking for a great printing experience.”

Appreciated the quickness, efficiency, and professionalism

“I absolutely appreciated the quickness, efficiency and professionalism that I received from the staff at TLAC. Derrick K. was especially patient with my (many) changes. I wrote my 1st children’s book and was impressed with how fast they were able to fill a large order. My children’s book tackles child sexual abuse and I wanted a beautiful book to present to little readers. I received that from TLAC. I will definitely use them in the future.”

I don’t go anywhere else but NEXUS for all my prints

“I don’t go anywhere else but NEXUS for all my prints, I’ve started my own company not to long ago and I’ve always had the best service at this place. Ali and Omar are extremely helpful and my art prints always come out amazing. I would highly recommend giving them a try!”

Completed a job that would have taken 10 days anywhere else

“I used Nexus print services this week for the first time for a rush print job on a student project. Omar and his team completed a job that would likely have taken 10 days anywhere else, and instead turned it around in 3 days. Omar promised that it would be ready by the deadline and that it would look amazing. He delivered on both counts, even going the extra mile with additional copies with an upgraded cover. This is a very busy print shop but Omar was so pleasant to deal with and was invested in delivering a great result.”
