I love comic books—the colorful illustrations, the larger-than-life heroes, plus the twists, turns, and worlds they pull you into. There’s something magical about holding a fresh comic, flipping through the artwork, and diving headfirst into a story.
So, when my friend asked me where to find the best comic shops in Toronto, I couldn’t wait to share my favorites!
These comic shops offer everything from mainstream Marvel and DC titles to indie comics you’ve never heard of. Some also carry collectibles, figures, and graphic novels that’ll make any fan’s heart race.
For the die-hard comic aficionados or those who are just starting to explore this amazing art form, here are the top spots in Toronto you simply can’t miss.
How much do comic books cost in Toronto?
In Toronto, new single-issue comics from big publishers like Marvel and DC range from about $4 to $6, while indie or specialty titles may be slightly more. Trade paperbacks and graphic novels typically cost between $15 and $30.
Rare or collectible comics can be priced much higher, depending on their condition and demand.
In general, the cost of comic books can vary depending on the title, publisher, and rarity. Many comic shops also offer discounts on older issues or bulk purchases.
How We Chose the Best Comic Shops in Toronto
1. Gotham Central
Since 2012, Gotham Central has built a reputation as one of the largest local vendors at Toronto’s major fan conventions like Comic Con and Fan Expo.
Here, you can find shelves stocked full of new comic releases, retro issues, and graphic novels from Marvel, DC, Image, IDW Publishing, Boom! Studios, and many more.
They also offer Comic Book Pull Lists to help you keep up with your fave series. And their CGC Signature Series is for collectors looking to authenticate prized issues.
Action and Funko Pop! figures, statues, and a range of toys are also available.
We love that they host fan-centered events like Free Comic Book Day, Halloween Fest, and Artist Days, where fans get to meet local artists and score a free comic or two.
However, we heard that the staff can be inattentive which can be annoying, especially if you’re looking for guidance.
Hands down the best hobby, comic, and collectible shop in Canada
“Hands down the best hobby, comic, and collectible shop in Canada. The owner Carlos is an absolute stud and the staff are extremely experienced and knowledgeable having been in the business for decades. Not to mention the place is absolutely huge and to be honest, any real collector would love this extreme level of selection. They frequently hold events too so I would check in on those for cool deals. Just a super cool place overall. It’s every kid, collector and geek’s dream world!”

My go-to comic store in Sauga
“This is my go to comic store in sauga. So worth going here they have a huge selection of old and new comics, manga, figurines, other collectibles, busts… just crazy stuff. You can find nice variant covers here too. Great staff too! Great place for comic book enthusiasts.”

2. Cyber City Comix
Since 1995, Cyber City Comix has been serving up a great selection of comic books and collectibles for both casual fans and hardcore enthusiasts.
Every Wednesday, the store gets a new shipment of merchandise, so it’s always exciting to stop by midweek for a little treat.
If you’re like me and can’t make it every single week, just give them a list of your must-have comics, and they’ll put them aside for you. They can even go the extra mile to track down something that’s out of stock or hard to find.
One of the best parts of shopping here is the $20 lifetime membership. For just a one-time fee, you get 15% off new comics, back issues, art books, manga, and more!
Now, no place is perfect, and I’ve heard a few grumbles here and there about the staff being a little clueless.
By far the best shop in Toronto for new comics
“Customer since 2020. By far the best shop in Toronto for new comics – especially if you like to *read* comics. They stock seemingly every new release, from DC and Marvel to obscure indie titles. Pull lists are very reliable. Darryl, the owner, is very friendly and accommodating. Strongly recommend!”

Best comic shop in the city
“Best comic shop in the city. Decided to order some comics and emailed to see if they would be available the next day for pickup. Darryl was so kind and responded even off hours. The comics were in perfect condition and the service was the best I’ve ever received. Didn’t get to actually go inside the store, but pictures make it seem awesome. I’ll definitely shop here again next time I need some comics!”

3. Treehouse Collectibles
Treehouse Collectibles is a flagship store that specializes in comics, vintage toys, records, and even retro video games.
We always anticipate their new comics that come in every Wednesday. From the big-name publishers to some of the more obscure, indie gems, there’s always a fresh batch of reading material to explore.
They also offer CGC Universal Grade comic books for those serious collectors looking for pristine, graded editions.
In addition to comics, they carry old-school video games, Pokemon cards, hockey cards, and vintage wax pack trading cards. And they even host local events like comic book signings, where you can meet the creators and enjoy a nice 20% off sale.
As with many specialty collectible shops, however, some rare items are marked up quite a bit. If you’re not careful, you might end up spending more than you anticipated.

Staff is super knowledgeable and friendly
“Staff is super knowledgeable and friendly, love geeking out with them about their gems. Great shop to bring my kids and talk about the glory years. More than fair pricing and insanely cool selection. Please let me know when Wolverine Day is coming, thanks fellas!”

4. West End Comics
West End Comics, open since 2012, is a must-visit for comic book lovers and collectors.
Inside, you’ll notice stacks of comics—both old and new—lining the walls. The shop offers a great mix of mainstream comics alongside some indie treasures.
We love that there’s something for every price point, from $10 to $800. It’s also nice to see they offer a variety of collectibles to cater to all types of collectors.
If you’re someone (like me!) who loves to dig through boxes for rare finds, you’ll love their section of comics in less-than-perfect condition. These are tucked away in a far corner, and the prices are super affordable.
And for those who regularly collect monthly comics, they offer a subscription service.
But while the store itself is awesome, some staff members can be a bit rude or indifferent.

They have an amazing range of comics
“Great shop. The staff are extremely helpful and are always happy to assist. They have an amazing range of comics, from the big mainstream ones to the lesser known ones.”

5. The Beguiling
The Beguiling was founded in 1987 and has carried the largest selection of unique comics in the country. It’s no wonder they received the Will Eisner Spirit of Retailing Award for excellence in retailing.
New comic books arrive every Wednesday, and new graphic novels come in regularly, so there’s always something to look forward to. And for collectors, the store buys old comics from the 1930s up to the present.
We like that they offer original artwork for sale on a consignment basis—a pretty awesome way to own a piece of comic history.
Over the years, they’ve hosted signings, readings, launches, and other comic-related events. Some of their notable guests include Harlan Ellison, Neil Gaiman, Robert Crumb, and more!
Despite these cool aspects, there have been some reports of aggressive and rude staff members, which is a bit of a downer.
My favourite Comics Shop in the world
“Next to the shop I work in, this is my favourite Comics Shop in the world. If you’re an Indy comics fan, this is heaven. Peter and his staff work diligently to make obscure items available, and they build the comics community in Toronto. Thank you for bringing in special guests like Dan Clowes, Charles Burns, Seth, and others. It means so much to so many. Keep up the great effort!”
