We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

I’m a huge cycling fan—it’s eco-friendly, a great workout, and lets you see the city in a whole new light. So, when my friend suggested a Toronto bike tour, I was all in!

The tour was fantastic. We pedaled through charming neighborhoods, scenic parks, and along the beautiful waterfront, all while learning interesting tidbits about the city’s history and culture.

Inspired by my experience, I chatted with fellow Torontonians and dug into some online reviews. Since being armed with this info, I always tell my friends—both locals and visitors—to give a biking tour a try.

Now, I’m here to share the best bicycle tours in Toronto with you. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, get ready to see the city on two wheels and have a whole lot of fun!

Budget-friendly options are available, but some tours with bike rentals or special stops might cost more.

Itinerary: We looked for tours that offered a good mix of sights and experiences, showcasing different neighborhoods, historical landmarks, and hidden gems.
Guide Expertise: Knowledgeable and passionate guides are key! We prioritized tours led by experienced cyclists who can share interesting facts and stories about the city.
Bike Quality and Safety: Safe and comfortable bikes are essential. We considered tours that used well-maintained bicycles and prioritized safety measures like helmets and route selection.
Group Size: Smaller groups create a more personalized experience. We favored tours with limited group sizes to ensure interaction with the guide and fellow cyclists.
Pace and Difficulty: Not everyone is a cycling pro! We looked for tours that offer a variety of paces and difficulty levels to cater to different fitness levels.
Inclusions: Some tours offer extras like bike rentals, snacks, or entrance fees. We considered the value proposition based on what’s included in the overall price.
Customer Reviews: We looked at online reviews and recommendations to see what other cyclists enjoyed (or didn’t enjoy) about different tours.
Customization: Flexibility is a plus, so we considered tours that offer some level of customization, like choosing the route or catering to dietary restrictions.
Sustainability: We prioritized tours that promote sustainable practices and encourage responsible tourism.

Toronto Bicycle Tours was founded in 2008 by Terrence, a passionate Torontonian. His love for his hometown fueled his desire to share its magic with visitors and locals alike.

Their team is made up of locals with backgrounds in architecture, history, and even music! We think this makes their tours informative and engaging, led by guides who are all First Aid/CPR-certified.

Whether you’re a history buff, a casual cyclist, or someone who can’t ride yet (they have tandem bikes!), they have a tour for you. Choose from tours like “Heart of Downtown” or “Round the City Tour,” all fully equipped with bikes, helmets, water, and snacks.

We learned that they also offer private tours, bike rentals (hybrid, tandem, or kid-sized), and a summer day camp for the little ones!

Note that some tours lean more towards sightseeing with frequent stops. Hardcore cyclists might prefer a tour with less stopping and more pedaling.

Pros

  • Founded in 2008
  • First Aid/CPR-certified guides
  • Accommodates non-bikers with tandem bikes
  • Fully equipped with bikes, helmets, water, and snacks
  • Private tours, bike rentals, and summer day camp

Cons

  • Reports of tours with too much stopping and talking

Highly recommended for first-time visitors!

“Absolutely worth it! This bike tour offers a great overview of Toronto’s main attractions, helping you decide what to explore in depth later. You’ll also get fascinating insights into the city’s history. Highly recommended for first-time visitors!”

Saw amazing views of the city and island

“Tour was great. Saw amazing views of the city and island. Our guide Sylvia was attentive, considerate, and informative. She made sure we were safe and had a good time. Once we reached the ferry the ride was very relaxing. The most difficult climb was getting out of the meeting place. Our group was myself, husband, and don (ages 31-64). You do ride through the city for a bit, but the guide makes sure you are taken care of and guides you throughout. You find out the history of the island and see the tranquil island living. We took the evening tour (May 22) and perfect weather. The sunset was beautiful! Great choice for our first night in Toronto.”

Pedal Toronto Guided Tours is run by Wendy Huismans, whose Dutch heritage shines through in her passion for cycling. In fact, her background as an indoor cycling instructor and kinesiology student means she can tailor tours for both enjoyment and workouts.

And as a Toronto native, she knows the city inside and out. That’s why her company offers curated tours like exploring the City Centre’s highlights or venturing to the Toronto Island and Distillery District.

Each tour includes a bike, helmet, water bottle, and a guide who will share interesting tidbits of history along the way. We like that there’s plenty of time to stop for photos and soak up the atmosphere too.

Do note that their tours require basic riding ability. Unlike other companies, they don’t offer tandem bikes for non-riders.

However, if you’re new to cycling or want to brush up on your skills, they also offer group or one-on-one training sessions.

Pros

  • Owned by a cyclist and kinesiology student
  • Offers curated city tours
  • Includes a bike, helmet, water, and a guide
  • Offers group or one-on-one training sessions

Cons

  • Not for non-bikers

What a great way to see the real Toronto

“What a great way to see the real Toronto. Wendy and Mike were great guides who were passionate about their city, and so they should be! What a cool place the Island and the Distillery are. Getting to and from Toronto Island on water taxis and the ferry was my unexpected highlight of the tour. You can’t get a bad photo with the city in the background from on the island. The bikes were brand new, comfortable and smooth to zip around on. 100% will do again when I’m back in Toronto. I recommend asking Wendy or Mike where to have a drink or eat after the tour. They really do know all the good spots.”

Wendy is an excellent operator to work with

“Wendy is an excellent operator to work with. She’s well organized, the equipment is excellent, she’s proactive in her suggestions to ensure that you have a fun trip and a good time. She accommodates any changes if it’s appropriate. Five stars all around.”

Toonie Tours is a Toronto-based company, founded by three travel buddies in 2018. They offer free walking tours alongside paid experiences like bike tours, scooter tours, and even private tours.

Their bike tours are perfect for budget-conscious cyclists who want a guided exploration of the city. Tours typically last 3 hours and cater to small groups (2-12 people), so you can get personalized attention.

Plus, they offer e-bikes for those who want a little extra help conquering those hills (for an extra fee, of course).

Everything you need for a safe ride is included—bike rental, helmet, and even a bike light for those evening tours. They also offer art-themed tours and private tours for smaller groups looking for a more customized experience.

Note that these tours aren’t for cycling newbies since they require previous cycling experience. We also noticed that at times, they have anxious or less knowledgeable guides.

Pros

  • Founded in 2018
  • Free walking tours
  • Bike, scooter, art, and private tours
  • Caters to small groups
  • Offers e-bikes
  • Bike rental, helmet, and bike light included

Cons

  • Not for newbies
  • Less knowledgeable guides

This tour made me consider moving to Toronto

“This tour made me consider moving to Toronto 😀 It was a very engaging tour around Toronto’s most popular sights. I had a very young and energetic guide, Dani, who shared his fascination with the city. As someone actively engaged in Toronto’s cultural life, Dani conveyed the idea of being part of a diverse society that actively creates an environment for itself through the exchange of experiences. And this exchange happens in offices, markets, parks, cafes, galleries, and theaters, which was not visible to me before i’ve taken the tour.”

Daniel Jąszczyszczykołęczewski, Google Review

Absolutely fantastic experience!

“Absolutely fantastic experience! This tour is definitely on the longer side, but you’ll never be bored for even a second. Each stop was well planned, perfectly spaced, and interesting. Joel did a great job getting people engaged and invested in Toronto history. It’s rare for me to come away from a tour feeling like I’ve actually learned something, but I can say now that I feel quite knowledgeable about Toronto and a few of it’s neighborhoods! If you don’t already have this trip on your itinerary, you should.”

Launched in 2022, Pedal Pub offers a twist on bar hopping—a party bike you pedal yourselves! A professional guide will steer the way and make sure everyone is safe throughout the tour.

It works like this—you and your group (up to 16 people) climb aboard this multi-seater bike equipped with a bar and sound system. And don’t worry if you’re not a cycling champ—they have 5 non-pedaling seats.

The fun doesn’t stop there—you’ll pedal (or party) your way through the city, stopping at 3 different local bars along the route. Music pumps, good vibes flow, and singing is practically mandatory.

Whether it’s a team-building activity, a family outing, or just a “because-we-can” adventure, Pedal Pub sets the tone for a memorable get-together. They even offer private and corporate tours.

However, we experienced some tours that did not start exactly on time.

Pros

  • Uses a party bike
  • Has a bar and sound system
  • Has 5 non-pedaling seats
  • Stops at 3 different local bars
  • Offers private and corporate tours

Cons

  • Not always punctual
