An excellent option is Juno Veterinary, Toronto’s first membership-based veterinary practice.

We like their membership option that provides a great experience for all their clients. Clients who become members show their dedication to having their pets cared for, so this allows their team more time to provide thoughtful, compassionate care.

Some benefits of their membership include one annual exam, same-day or next-day appointments, 24/7 virtual care, and upfront and transparent pricing.

Their clinic also provides comprehensive services which include Urgent Care, Preventative Care, Surgery, Pharmacy, Virtual Care, as well as Dental Care.

We absolutely love their clinic as well! It has beautiful interiors that make the place look like a living room and not a hospital.

What’s more is their location is very convenient. Their clinic can be found right between Roxborough Street and Rowanwood Avenue—one of the most beautiful and pet-friendly communities in Toronto!

All in all, we highly recommend this exceptional clinic.

Pros

  • Toronto’s first membership-based vet practice
  • Easy booking
  • 24/7 virtual care available
  • Convenient location
  • Comprehensive services
  • Can file claims for owners to most insurance companies

Customer Service

“We had our first visit to Juno vet this week for an introductory wellness examination and we were very impressed at the level of kindness, professionalism and knowledge they displayed! We really appreciated them displaying the total cost breakdown prior to reaching the front counter, unlike all of the other vets we’ve been to! We will definitely be coming back and signing up for the full subscription service. Great place!” — Brandon G

“We had an amazing experience at Juno today! The website and app were fast and easy to use. All the staff at Juno was warm and welcoming and the vets were diligent and caring! This is the first vet clinic where our cat felt comfortable enough to roam around out of his carrier! Can’t wait to bring our younger cat to this beautiful facility.” — Laurn Bentley

Having been around for almost 50 years, Beaches Animal Hospital is an established animal hospital in Beaches and Toronto’s east end. They’ve also been named one of the top three veterinary clinics in Toronto!

They have quite a wide range of services, which we like – from preventive health care, and annual diagnostics to pet care and insurance, they have it all.

It’s worth noting that they do cardiac monitoring, which isn’t common in other hospitals. Here, they monitor your pets’ blood pressure, which is necessary if they’re going to undergo a general anaesthetic.

We also like that they have a 24/7 online pet shop for your pet dog, cat, or bird’s food, vitamins, and supplements. They also offer free shipping for purchases over $100.

Various payment methods are accepted in this hospital, which is convenient. They accept cash, Interac, Visa, MasterCard, and AMEX.

That said, they require you to leave a deposit for the first 24 hours of medical care and hospitalisation.

Moreover, the prices of the medicines they offer are more expensive than most animal hospitals.

We also think they could improve the speed of their service. Most customers shared how they usually have to wait at least 30 minutes later than their scheduled appointment before their vet arrives.

Hopefully, Beaches Animal Hospital will address these to further improve their customer service.

Pros

  • Provides cardiac monitoring
  • Has a 24/7 online pet store
  • Flexible payment methods

Cons

  • More expensive than other hospitals
  • Long waiting time

Thoughtful staff

“My rescue dog got into the trash and needed to have vomiting induced. My regular vet was closing for the evening but recommended Beach Animal Hospital. My dog can be quite anxious. They were fantastic. They were kind, efficient, and took such good care of her. They were thoughtful with everyone in the waiting room. So glad to know they’re there if needed!”- Dianna English, Google Reviews

Beyond phenomenal

“My experiance has been beyond phenomenal. My cat required dental surgery and I was very nervous. The reception, technicians and vets have been compassionate, understanding and very tolerant of my many many anxious questions. My cats surgery went very well and I am very grateful for the educated choices Dr. Dilworth has made for him. Throughout this experiance I felt my cat was in good hands and personally felt listened and understood with my expectations and worries. It’s evident this clinic puts the animals first. Very organized and clean as well.” – Jessica McLean, Google Reviews

Operated by an award-winning veterinarian, Dundas West Animal Hospital has been offering on-site health and wellness services for pets.

We like how big their team is – they have 12 doctors and 13 support staff. All of them studied animal care-related courses, which makes us feel confident in their expertise.

For their medical services, we’re happy that they offer in-house diagnostic procedures, including radiology, flea control, ultrasound, and dental services. This makes them a one-stop shop for pet owners looking for comprehensive tests.

They also do therapeutic laser treatment, a pain-free treatment that could treat conditions such as osteoarthritis, injuries, and ear infections. What’s great about this is it doesn’t require sedation, which lessens the risk of further complications.

And, if you need to cancel your appointment because of an unforeseen circumstance, you wouldn’t need to worry because rescheduling is allowed.

Regulars we’ve spoken to love the staff’s caring and understanding attitude towards them and their pets. A lot of them appreciated how the staff took their time explaining the procedures for more clarity.

But there are a few reports of their procedure errors on some treatments, which results in a more risky health condition for the pets.

For instance, they apparently failed to connect the oxygen supply to the dog during dental cleaning– sadly, the dog went into a cardiac arrest because of this

Dundas West Animal Hospital has yet to address this specific issue. We hope they do so urgently, as this is something that will give potential clients major pause.

Pros

  • Provides in-house diagnostic procedures
  • Has therapeutic laser treatment
  • Rescheduling is allowed

Cons

  • Reports on treatment procedure errors
  • Shorter operating hours on weekends

Nice and friendly staff

“Great experience so far. All the staffs are nice, friendly and give my babi a great care. Always give detailed explanations, instructions and follow-ups. Some reviews said it is quite expensive compared to the other vets but to me it’s worth the money 🐱” – Mai Nguyen, Google Reviews

Patient, gentle and incredibly knowledgeable

“The best vet experience I have ever had in my life. They were so amazing with my rescue dog, beyond patient, gentle and incredibly knowledgeable. For the first time I felt like a vet had my back and I didn’t have to worry about being taken advantage of due to my emotions. I am so pleased with the facility and staff at Dundas West I would highly recommend this vet. Thank you Dundas West for the amazing experience.” – Melissa Goodman, Google Reviews

Jane Animal Hospital is known for providing various laboratory tests, vaccinations, and general inspections for kittens and puppies with care and hospitality in Toronto.

Though they only have 5 veterinary doctors on board, they have a large pool of veterinary technicians. We think this can result in a lesser waiting time, particularly for diagnostic tests.

What we like about them is they have a wider range of surgical services than their competitors.

Usually, hospitals only offer spaying and neutering. But here, they have services from soft tissue repairs, and eye surgery to tumour removal.

For their dentistry services, they offer tooth brushing lessons for pets, which we find unique.

Another thing we like here is they have online consultations. The fee for this service ranges from $30 to $78, depending on the platform you prefer.

Note, however, that your final bill for your pet’s surgery may increase due to separate medication charges.

Also, it is reported that it’s hard to book an appointment with them, especially for emergencies. Several customers shared how they spent weeks just to get a schedule for their pets’ treatments.

Still, we think Jane Animal Hospital is worth checking out for its surgical services, Plus, they have longer operating hours on weekends than most hospitals around the area.

Pros

  • Wide range of surgical services
  • Provides tooth brushing lessons for pets
  • Offers online consultations

Cons

  • Separate medication charges
  • Hard to book an appointment

Best treatment and recovery

“Staff are knowledgeable, are truly out for the betterment of your animal. We have a small dog and she is getting fixed. We had such a positive experience learning all the special considerations for her to get the best treatment and recovery. They are so patient and so good at communicating what the options are. I can’t say enough good things about this place. You get what you pay for. It isn’t cheap, but is fair and the professional staff they hire come at a cost. I’d rather pay a little more for outstanding professionals than be uncertain. Definitely recommend Jane Animal Hospital” – Neil Doctorow, Google Reviews

Passionate team

“Jane Animal Hospital is a very welcoming space. The team is passionate about your pet and will ensure you are well equipped with the information you need to ensure your pet is healthy!” – Sara Boers, Google Reviews

Front Street Animal Hospital’s staff are mostly pet owners, which makes them passionate about offering the best veterinary care for their clients’ pets.

First and foremost, we like how they offer nutritional counselling since obesity is a common problem amongst pets.

Moreover, we find it convenient that they have an on-site pharmacy. This way, you’ll be able to immediately purchase the prescribed medications for your pets right after the check-up.

They also use digital imaging for their X-rays, which is great. This improves the quality of the results because it uses flexible cassettes, unlike traditional X-rays, which use films.

You can also get your pet insurance here if you’d like. What’s great here is that pet owners are allowed to customise the coverage of the insurance by choosing their preferred deductibles.

Their passion for taking care of pets shows in their customer service. Some clients appreciated how the vets gave free goodies to their pets after a vaccination.

Customers we’ve spoken with also commended the staff’s patience with their anxious pets.

There were just a few instances when some of their staff apparently take their time in providing a cost estimate for the treatments. This can be quite distressing for a pet owner whose pet might have an urgent medical condition.

Waiting time also seems to be an issue here, as some customers reportedly end up queuing for quite a while before seeing the vet.

Still, we recommend Front Street Animal Hospital for your pets’ medical needs because of their quality services.

Pros

  • Offers nutritional counselling
  • Has an on-site pharmacy
  • Uses advanced technology for X-rays

Cons

  • Reports on slow turnover of treatment cost estimates
  • Long waiting time

Always with a smile

“I love everyone at Front Street. The ladies at the front desk are all so helpful and always with a smile. Dr. Shannon is super but all the vets are wonderful. I used to live close by but moved away and still go there. It’s worth it.” – Christine Wright, Google Reviews

Always on time and very clean

“Front Street Animal Hospital has been such a good place for my cat Milan. The facility follows strict COVID-19 protocols, they are always on time, very clean, extremely professional and very loving! The vets know exactly what they are doing. I have been taking Milan there for almost 3 years you can be sure you’re in good hands. Thank you for all you do!” – Clara Rangel, Google Reviews

CUSTOMER SERVICE★★★★☆ (4/5)

Queen West Animal Hospital has been in business for two decades. Since then, they’ve been providing a wide range of veterinary services in downtown Toronto such as wellness exams, medicine, dentistry, dental radiology, and surgery.

What caught our attention the most is that they provide services fluently in several languages, such as Mandarin, Korean, Spanish and decent French. We think this would be very helpful for foreign customers.

It adds to our confidence that Dr. Scott Mathison, the co-founder, graduated as a valedictorian of Ontario Veterinary College with his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. His specialties are surgery, dentistry, and practice management.

They have various services to offer, including tonometry for your pet’s vision. They also have pain and management control for injuries and infections.

We also like how they do rescue work for stray kittens and felines, which proves their dedication to providing for the needs of most animals.

However, the cost of their services is more expensive than other hospitals. Getting an X-ray can apparently cost you up to $2,500!

Also, you might need to wait for a while before getting the results of your pets’ diagnostic procedures. Some clients shared how it took longer than expected, even if the staff said they’ll be getting it within the day.

If you’re planning to book an appointment with Queen West Animal Hospital, you can call them, send them an email, or fill up their form on the website. It’s apparently easy to get a schedule from them.

Pros

  • Staffs are fluent in several languages
  • Offers tonometry services
  • Easy to book

Cons

  • Services are a bit more expensive
  • Getting the results can take a while

Customer Service

Kind and compassionate doctors

“Dr. Matheson and Dr. Fisher are the best vets in the city.  My dogs were in their care over the course of their lives and I am grateful for the attention, kindness and compassion they showed my dogs and me at every visit.  I always left feeling like my dogs had the best experience and care they could possibly get.  Having had to go to various specialists across TO, I can say that this level of service is not apparent everywhere.  This is a very special place and I will bring any future pets to Queen West as long as I am in the city.” – Sonia K, Google Reviews

Welcoming atmosphere

“The staff were super informative, helpful, organized, and friendly! The atmosphere was very welcoming and very cute! The staff was absolutely excellent! They took the time to actually explain what they were doing and explain why they thought certain treatments were necessary. The staff was also especially understanding of my anxious dog and were adamant about trying different methods to help him feel more comfortable. Previous clinics have been very rough with my big dog so I was pleasantly surprised when Queen West took a more gentle and friendly yet firm approach. Like most animal care, be prepared to spend quite a bit. Overall, a great experience!” – Bryana Suraci, Google Reviews
