Sturdy connection is becoming a necessity for most people nowadays. Whether it’s for work, gaming, social media, or even simply surfing the internet, people always look for good internet or WiFi wherever they go.

We gathered a list of the top internet services in Toronto. Here, we covered the basics such as plans offered, usual internet speed, and contact information.

The Top Internet Services in Toronto

The following factors were used to find the top internet providers in Toronto:

How much do internet services cost in Toronto?

Before we reveal to you our list, we would like to share with you a sample price table for you to know how much internet services are usually priced in Toronto.

Internet Services Average Cost

Serving Canadians for over 20 years now, Rally is one of the growing internet providers in Toronto and in the entire Canada. They own their network and provide broadband solutions for households and businesses.

They are fully licenced by the CRTC and they have internet, television, and home phone services. Their internet service is one of the most prominent in the Toronto area given the speed and affordability of their offered connection.

Download and upload activities can be up to 1 Gbps, a very impressive number. Availing their internet service comes with free installation and 24/7 customer support.

We also like how they provide their customers with freedom and charge on a monthly basis. This means that there are no contracts, which can be a downside – but it also means that customers can cancel anytime.

They have two main packages, one being Fibre and one being Spark. The latter is a little slower and is usually the one available for further areas.

It’s worth mentioning, too, that internet speed and other concerns are customisable per client.

The first month is usually free, which is very convenient. A monthly plan can cost as low as CAD 65 exclusive of tax, which is among the most affordable.

We do note that while they are able to cover various locations across Canada, prices vary outside Ontario. Some of these may be more expensive than expected, which can be a dealbreaker for potential clients.

Overall, we recommend RALLY simply because of the speed that they offer and the prices they guarantee. This local internet service is definitely worth the hype in the Toronto neighbourhood.

Pros

  • 20 years’ experience
  • Speeds of up to 1 Gbps
  • Has free installation and free first month offers
  • 24/7 customer support

Cons

  • 1 Gbps reportedly not attained for some customers
  • Some outside Ontario fees said to be very expensive

FibreStream is an independent internet service provider that started in 2009. They are popular among condos in Ontario and are peered with top internet sites for fast browsing.

What we like most about this service is the fact that they have not raised their rates since their foundation in 2009. This is also one of the many reasons why they are popular, with their monthly plans being as low as CAD 52.

We also like how this service chooses to continuously improve and how committed they are to their customers. They are currently working on investing in a private fibre optic network so they can deliver 10 Gbps to their clients.

They hold promos every now and then. As of writing, they are offering a free installation and free router if you avail of internet from them.

Condominiums within Toronto, Ottawa, and Metro Vancover are their usual customers. They will install their own private network in a client’s building to guarantee a safe and fast connection.

We do warn that there are several reports about their customer support. They sometimes fail to answer calls and address issues right away, which is something they should work on.

On the bright side, customers can cancel anytime as the first month is risk-free. They also don’t hold you to any contracts.

We recommend FibreStream for clients who are living or holding office in condominiums. We can say that they are experts in setting up internet services within condos and are one of the most affordable yet efficient options.

Pros

  • Has at least 13 years experience
  • Has not raised their prices since they started
  • Base plan can be as low as cad 52
  • Will install own private network in a customer’s building

Cons

  • Not much experience in installing internet for households
  • Customer support has reports of being unresponsive

“I’ve been a FibreStream customer for years now. The service is rock-solid and customer support is amazing. If FibreStream is available in your building, you’re in good hands.” — Winston Anderson, via Google

Founded in 2014, Dotto-One is an internet service provider that prides itself in having ultra high speed internet with unlimited capacity. They are known for their services in residential buildings.

Their fastest service is a symmetric 1 gigabit connection, but this can only be achieved in specific locations. We like how this service is network-neutral, with no third party service providers or specific websites blocked.

Across all their internet services, there are no activation fees, tying contracts, and hidden fees. They also have a 90-day refund policy, where they guarantee a full refund should the client not be satisfied with their service during the first 3 months.

Free installation and free hardware come with their internet services.

Their website is very helpful in terms of knowing the locations they cover. Customers can simply enter their postal code and know if Dotto-One is available in their area.

We do warn that while their base plan is within the average internet service price, their rates go higher perpendicular to the requested internet speed. This isn’t alarming, but their prices are honestly a little higher than their competitors’.

They are also closed during weekends, which can be a setback. Many other internet providers service 24/7, so this puts them behind in terms of customer support.

All said, we still recommend Dotto-One because of their customer-friendly policies. Their promised speed and smooth process is noteworthy.

Pros

  • Ultra high speed internet with unlimited capacity
  • 90-day refund policy
  • Network-neutral, no sites and other providers blocked

Cons

  • Some prices are higher than most competitors
  • Office is closed during weekends

Customer Reviews

No disruptions at all during the daytime

“I have been using Dotto one for a number of years. The quality and speed of their Wifi service has always been great, no disruptions at all during the daytime.  Any questions I have had were quickly responded to by the tech team. I thank you for your service.”  — Mary McDonald, via Google

Download and upload speed is ultra quick and it’s reliable

“No issues in the last 6 months since moving in. The internet has cut out maybe once in that time span. It’s fast, download and upload speed is ultra quick and it’s reliable. Not to mention the few encounters of customer service I’ve experienced have been nothing but amazing. Please support local in these trying times by signing on with Dotto-One!” — Josh Welsh, via Google

Coextro is a fibre-optic powered internet service provider and an expert in smart home systems. They have been around since 2012 and have recently won the Toronto Star at the 2021 Reader’s Choice Awards.

You can check their availability in your area by entering your address in one of the pages of their website. They service throughout Ontario, but internet speed varies per location.

One of the things we most like about this service is the speed of their internet. They are fibre-based and Canadian-owned, so they understand the needs of the community.

They offer a risk-free trial period for their internet services so customers can cancel within that week should they feel unsatisfied. We do note that they offer a shorter period as compared to other providers.

On the other hand, what makes them a great choice is the fact that they can install internet services along with other home or office needs such as phone and smart devices. Being a one-stop shop is always a great path for services like this.

We do note that there are several reports of their internet speed slowing down as time goes by. This can all depend on the locations, but we believe that they should address this as it will take a toll on their business.

Still, we recommend Coextro simply because of the reputation they have established. Many people from Toronto and all over Ontario trust them as they do their best to cater to the various needs of every household or office.

Pros

  • Has a decade’s worth of experience
  • Canadian-owned and -operated service
  • Fibre-optic powered internet
  • Also has phone and smart device services

Cons

  • Varying Internet speeds per location
  • Some installed internet services reportedly slowing down as time goes by
  • Shorter risk-trial period compared to other providers

I highly recommend Coextro to whoever is looking for new services in the GTA.”  — Robert Parker, via Google

Cloudwifi offers a multi-gigabit hyper-optic network exclusively for high density buildings. This business started in 2014 and has significantly gained popularity among student housing, condominiums, apartments, and commercial buildings since then.

While their clientele may be exclusive and quite limited, Cloudwifi made the cut simply because of their good internet service and successful record. They have served over a hundred buildings and connected more than 200,000 devices, which isn’t bad at all.

Location-wise, they have catered to more than 9 cities. They also offer internet services to hotels, motels, and resorts, rural areas such as municipalities and townships, and even provide managed services for better network connectivity.

What makes their system unique is the fact that it is a combination of traditional optical fibres in the ground and modern point-to-point radios in the air.

Their trademark of providing smart connectivity to various buildings is promoted with the fact that their system assists in adding significant value to a real-estate asset. This is why they are a popular choice for building owners and developers.

We do note that this service does not have any trial periods or promos. They will meet with the person in-charge of the building and will figure out the process from there.

We strongly recommend Cloudwifi as they are an innovative and well-organised internet network provider. If you’re a building owner, developer, or someone who resides in a high density building, consider Cloudwifi for your overall surfing needs.

Pros

  • Has a good track record since they began in 2014
  • Very innovative, has their own hyper-optic network
  • Assists in adding value to a high density building

Cons

  • Clientele is exclusive
  • No trial periods or promos
