Confession time—I used to HATE comedy clubs! Hold on, let me explain.
I’ve been to a couple of comedy clubs, and I thought the acts were cheesy, and the hecklers were just plain rude.
Then, a few months back, a friend convinced me to give it another shot. Reluctantly, I agreed, thinking, “Can I just stay home?”
But, you know, I’m really glad I went because the comedians had me in stitches all night long! Their acts were fresh and hilarious, and with snacks and drinks in hand, it was such a blast.
After that, I was hooked. Now, my friend and I make it a regular thing to hit up comedy clubs.
So, if you’ve ever doubted the magic of live comedy, I’m here to change your mind. Here are the most epic comedy clubs in Toronto that’ll have you ROFL!
How much does going to a comedy club cost in Toronto?
On average, expect to pay around $15 to $30 for general admission tickets to a Toronto comedy club. The cost may vary depending on the venue, day of the week, and whether there’s a special event or headlining act.
Factors like VIP seating, drink minimums, and additional fees for add-on services can also affect the overall price.
How We Chose the Best Comedy Clubs in Toronto
1. Comedy Bar

Founded in 2008 by Gary and James, Comedy Bar exudes an infectious party vibe that immediately draws you in.
Their goal is to nurture comedic talent, offering a platform for sketch, improv, alternative, and stand-up comedy. In fact, their newly-built Cabaret Room is a space for experimental shows and emerging talents.
The venue’s reputation precedes it, having hosted comedy legends like Tim Meadows, Janeane Garofalo, and Marc Maron. Currently, their lineup promises something for everyone, from The Dirty North to Smokes and Jokes.
While the shows are geared towards adults, we like that they welcome those aged 14 and above (as long as they’re with a parent or guardian).
Plus, the bar offers a full range of drinks, from draught beer to cocktails. And if you need a snack to fuel your laughter, there are small bites available too.
While their Bloor location isn’t wheelchair accessible, their Danforth venue is.
Pros
- Open since 2008
- Offers sketch, improv, alternative, and stand-up
- Hosted comedy legends
- Nurtures emerging talent
- Welcomes ages 14+
- Drinks and snacks available
Cons
- Bloor venue not wheelchair-accessible
Best comedy bar in the city
“Best comedy bar in the city, the short girl with the dark long hair is one of the best bartenders I’ve ever met, wish I got her name. She really made it an experience and not just a comedy show. Will be back again.”

2. Absolute Comedy

Absolute Comedy is known for its classic comedy bar atmosphere—a perfect backdrop for a night of laughs with friends or a laid-back date.
We like that they take comedy seriously, with comedians often waiting up to eight months for a coveted five-minute spot. From headliners like Andrew Packer to Alex Wood, Pierre Brault, and Dan Mahoney, you’re guaranteed a night of fun!
Unlike other comedy clubs, they offer dinner and show packages that cater to every appetite. You can go for the à la carte menu or the buffet-style feast featuring roast beef au jus, veggie lasagna, and more.
Plus, with reserved seating, you can relax and enjoy the show without worrying about finding a good spot.
Beyond comedy nights, the club also hosts fundraisers and can accommodate up to 170 guests for special events.
However, it’s worth noting that they don’t serve tap water—a minor inconvenience in an otherwise enjoyable experience.
Pros
- Notable headliners
- Dinner and show packages
- Has reserved seating
- Also hosts fundraisers and other events
- Can accommodate large groups
Cons
- Does not serve tap water
My absolute favourite in Toronto!
“My absolute favourite in Toronto! Love the performances. I even got 10 free tickets once from them for leaving a comment on their feedback catd before, so that was cool and generous of them. Most servers are nice too. Highly recommended spot if you’re into stand up comedy or would like to get introduced to it.”

Fantastic comedy house!
“Fantastic comedy house! Very cozy and intimate place with good food as well. A nice bar at the front if you want to go early or stay for more drinks after the show.”

3. The Corner

The Corner, open since 2015, is a charming and intimate comedy club with a capacity of just 40 guests. We also noticed the old vinyl records on the wall, which adds to its cool, retro vibe.
The club was born out of a need for dedicated comedy spaces in Toronto. Promoter Tuccitto wanted a place where comedians could perform raw and uncensored stand-up, and he nailed it.
We love their top-tier comics who have performed on Just For Laughs, Crave, CBC, Comedy Network, Netflix, and more. Examples include Garrett Jamieson, Andie Hong, Alex Handy, and James Hammond.
Tickets are also reasonably priced, ranging from $12 for open mics to $27 for headliner shows.
If you’re feeling thirsty, their drink selection includes various beers and soft drinks, with the barkeeper taking orders partway through the gig.
However, we heard reports of overbooked shows, so it’s wise to arrive early.
Pros
- Founded in 2015
- Has a cool, retro vibe
- Showcases top-tier comics
- Reasonably priced tickets
- Serves beers and soft drinks
Cons
- Reports of overbooked shows
- Can feel a bit cramped

4. SoCap Comedy

SoCap Comedy used to be a blues bar with great acoustics. Now, it’s all about the laughs, offering a variety of shows—from improv and sketch comedy to cabaret, poetry readings, and open mic nights.
We think it’s cool that most of the shows are PWYC (Pay What You Can) or even free, so it’s a great spot for an affordable night out.
And while they don’t sell food, they’re totally fine with you bringing your own.
They also offer improv classes for aspiring comics, whether you’re looking for something casual or more of a commitment.
If you’re in the mood for something different, their sister company, Yes Unlimited, runs some pretty cool team-building and skills training workshops. They tailor these events to fit your business needs, which is a neat touch.
Now for the not-so-great parts: the club could definitely use a good cleaning. Also, we heard about performers showing up late.
Pros
- Has great acoustics
- Most shows are PWYC or free
- Offers improv classes
- Sister company hosts team-building workshops
Cons
- Somewhat dirty
- Reports of performers arriving late

5. Jokers Theatre and Comedy Club

Joker’s Comedy Club and Theatre is the brainchild of some seasoned pros from the comedy and restaurant operating scenes.
They host a mix of up-and-coming comics and established names like Habib Siam, Dave Curran, and The Most Dreaded. They occasionally feature magic shows and musicians, which we think is pretty cool.
If you’re looking to splurge a bit, we recommend one of their VIP booths.
The full menu is a big plus—you can choose from a full meal or just some light snacks. They even offer Le Petit Chef, a multi-course dinner experience with fun 3D animations right on your table!
Joker’s has an affordable event space for up to 232 guests. They also partner with comedy and talent agencies, so they can book a wide range of comedic acts for any event.
However, we did hear some complaints about abrupt show cancellations with no refunds, which could be a bummer if you’ve made plans.
Pros
- Mix of up-and-coming comics and established names
- Offers the Le Petit Chef dining experience
- Event space for up to 232 guests
- Offers event bookings for comedic acts
Cons
- Abrupt show cancellations with no refunds
One of Canada’s finest comedy clubs!
“One of Canada’s finest comedy clubs! Great space and food! The acts are top-notch too.”

We absolutely love this comedy place!
“We absolutely love this comedy place! We’ve been a few times and the service is always spot-on. The comedians are superbly funny. We only caught the tail end of the magic show, but it was very entertaining. The food is gourmet and large portions. They switched up some menu items to cater to the vegan’s in our group. The drinks are amazing and the DJ played great tunes after the show that everyone danced to. The general manager, Andrew Taranowski, went above and beyond to accommodate our party, attending to our every need, Our waitress Kayla was genuinely friendly and attentive, always checking on us. We will definitely be back, soon and often!”
