A family business that has been around since 1977, Can-Mex is one of the leading wholesale florists in the Greater Toronto Area and arguably in the entire Canada. They are able to maintain a loyal clientele given their fresh and top quality flowers.

We like how the story of Can-Mex started in a front lawn and how it has grown into a huge import and export business now. This honestly makes a good story and is reflective of their experience in the floral industry.

They have more than 400 flower and leaf types to choose from. They carry the most in-demand flowers such as chrysanthemum, lilies, orchids, and roses.

They are also well-known for their use of Hy-dra Foam, a foam innovation that is especially designed to keep the freshness of flowers. This foam has a high permeability feature that increases the flowers’ ability to draw water up the stems, thus retaining their vibrant colours.

Another thing that makes them convenient and appealing is the fact that they are located in the heart of the GTA’s wholesale floral circle. This makes them more accessible and gives them more exposure.

Of course, this business has its downsides. They usually serve floral businesses and allow pre-orders and are not actually open to the public for everyday purchase.

We also find that they can still extend their business hours as they open and close pretty early. While we understand that this is for their inventory and preparations, we believe that this can take a toll as others in the area are open until afternoon or even evening.

Overall, we recommend Can-Mex because of their tenure and high-quality produce. The flowers they have in their backyard will surely amaze clients and floral enthusiasts.

Pros

  • Serving the GTA for more than 40 years
  • 427 types of flowers and leaves to choose from
  • Uses Hy-dra Foam to maintain freshness of flowers

Cons

  • Not open to the public for everyday purchase
  • Operates a little earlier than most daily

Supplying wholesale florists and large retailers in the markets of Ontario, Manitoba, and East Coast, Florimex Toronto Corp is an independent wholesale florist with more than 20 years’ experience.

They take pride in their freshly-cut flowers and a selection of beautiful greens. They also offer quality services related to flowers such as product selection, packaging, and delivery.

What we like most about them is that they import from various parts of the globe just to keep enhancing their selection. We note that they closely work with flower growers from different continents and that they aim to provide a year-round supply of flowers for every client.

They have the usual flowers such as carnations and gerbera, but they also have the finest bulb flowers, tropical, and wildflowers. We do note that for Asian flowers, they are only able to directly import from Thailand.

Supply, quality control, and management of freight and logistics are not issues with their service. They own and manage a purchasing and logistics company called CanTika, which has operations in Ecuador and Colombia.

We do warn that some of the products that will be requested may still need to be ordered and are not always on-hand. However, the shipping can be as fast as 24 hours overseas, which isn’t bad at all.

We also add that this shop is closed during weekends, which is very risky as there are many potential customers during this time.

Florimex Toronto Corp is reliable if you’re looking for a unique selection and if you have a particular flower in mind. They might just have what you need and can deliver it fresh to your doorstep.

Pros

  • Wide range of selection
  • More than 20 years in the business
  • Has its own purchasing and logistics company
  • Performs product selection, packaging, and delivery

Cons

  • Some flowers are not available on-hand
  • Closed during weekends

Since 1978, Aprile Florist has been a trusted family business in Toronto. They specialise in  large inventories of fresh flowers and are known to have some of the best floral arrangements in the area.

This business is perfect for those who are looking for extravagant flowers as they already have set packages for you to try. They even categorise their flowers for occasions such as weddings, birthdays, baby showers, and even funerals, where huge orders of flowers may be made.

It is important to note that while most of their highlighted products are pre-made bouquets, Aprile Florist is one of the best shops you can get wholesale flowers from simply because they have a great selection and even have selected flower types in different colours.

Their shop serves Toronto and the entire Greater Toronto Area, along with nearby places and facilities that trust their service. They also deliver to local places for a standard rate of 9.03 CAD.

We do warn that their delivery fee goes up depending on your distance from their shop, especially for areas outside of their locale.

We also note that they are very strict on placing orders for same-day delivery. Orders placed after 12:00 noon will not be qualified and will be shipped on the next day.

All said, Aprile Florist is perfect for those who have themes or events that require pretty bunches of flowers. We recommend them to those who are very particular and are big on arrangements.

Pros

  • Has been in the business for more than 40 years
  • Beautiful arrangements
  • Great selection
  • Same-day delivery is available

Cons

  • Same-day delivery orders must be placed before 12:00 noon
  • Delivery to non-local areas can result to higher rates

Jong Young Flower Market started as a grocery store in 1952 and only carried flowers in 1955. It has grown to be one of the most trusted floral businesses in Toronto since then.

They have a wide range of cut and potted flowers and plants all year-round. The owner and heir of the family business, Jasmine, personally handpicks flowers that are available for sale.

Probably the best thing about this business is that it follows the market set-up, which literally allows customers to feel like they are in a supermarket of flowers. All of their available flowers are beautifully displayed and they have a fair selection available.

Included in their display are options and ideas for event bouquets and arrangements such as wedding boutonnieres, centrepieces, birthday arrangements, and even funeral bundles and corsages for formal events.

What makes them an even more popular choice is the fact that they work with your budget. Especially for big orders, they do their best not to compromise on the quality and try to come up with a solution to still meet your needs.

We also like how they import most of their produce from Canada alone. They only import from selected areas such as Holland, Ecuador, Colombia, Africa, Thailand, Italy, Costa Rica and the USA for special requests or if really needed.

We do warn that some of their flowers usually only last for days and can sometimes be a day old when you see them. While this isn’t entirely bad, it still puts them a little bit behind in terms of quality.

We also add that their schedule varies and can be hard to memorise, so it’s best to check if they are open before you actually visit the shop.

Nonetheless, we recommend Jong Young Flower Market for their experience in the Toronto floral scene. They are especially good for those who are on a budget.

Pros

  • More than 65 years in the business
  • Most produce are imported within Canada
  • Market set-up

Cons

  • Not the freshest flowers (according to a few reviews)
  • Selection is a bit smaller than competitors

Customer Reviews

Carry a wide assortment of flowers and orchids

“I absolutely love the variety of dried flowers/stalks they have here! I was lucky enough to come across these purple Pampas grass ones! Not sure when they’ll have more as they don’t always receive regular inventory on them. Supply issues due to covid from what I understand when I asked. Their prices are competitive and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this little floral shop! They carry a wide assortment of flowers and orchids as well. Check them out!”— Cindly L, via Google

Great pricing, lovely service

“I have been buying from Jasmine and staff at Jong Young for more than a decade now, with a large weekly pickup for our office foyer. Every morning I am greeted with big smiles and “Good Morning David!” which later became “Good morning, King David” (which later became my license plate inspired by Jasmine!) to which all the customers turned to see who the honorarium belonged to. Freshest selection, great pricing, lovely service. Always a delight to shop there. Highest recommendation!” — David LeBlanc, via Google

Established in 1998, Toronto Bulk Flowers is a family-owned business that has been offering beautiful wholesale flowers and quality bulk products. They cater to everyday needs and special events requests.

The best thing about this service is that they give you the option to either buy their products in bulk or at individual cost, but everything remains affordable. You can ask for a special arrangement or you can purchase their items for a DIY arrangement.

Bulk flowers are usually bundled with an average of 60 stems, which usually make great deals for those who make big purchases. They even offer certain flowers bundled with a hundred stems.

Their selection of bundle flowers cover the usual and popular ones, but they also have rare ones such as hydrangeas in various colours and assorted spring flowers.

They have a pretty extensive selection for wedding flowers as well, and even have edible ones for wedding cake toppers. Floral gifts and flowers for sympathy are also available, which is very reflective of their range and expertise.

The only thing we don’t appreciate about this service is that they aren’t very careful in terms of their packaging, so the quality of the flowers can get compromised. It can be argued that shipping is out of their control, but it would be best if they take extra care.

In conclusion, we find that Toronto Bulk Flowers is still a good choice because of their experience in the field and their wide yet affordable selection. They are a go-to place for those who have huge orders but do not want to spend much on flowers.

Pros

  • More than 20 years in the floral scene
  • Have various items for DIY arrangements
  • Edible flowers are available

Cons

  • Packaging is sometimes compromised
  • Some reports on subpar flower quality

Prices are so competitive and they have so many more flower options

“This is what I’ve been looking for! Affordable bulk flowers and great quality. I don’t have to go to others anymore because their prices are so competitive and they have so many more flower options. I’m definitely going to use Toronto Bulk Flowers again.” — Jessica Lee, via Google
