1. Sweet Pete’s Bike Shop
SELECTION OF BICYCLES | ★★★★★ |
QUALITY OF PRODUCTS | ★★★★★ |
EXPERIENCE | ★★★★☆ |
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION | ★★★★☆ |
A local business that started in 1997, Sweet Pete’s Bike Shop is one of the most popular stores for bikes, parts, accessories, and even clothing. They have two locations in Toronto, one being the main store and another being an annex.
They offer a wide range of bicycles, from road bikes to mountain bikes, commuter bikes to electric bikes, and even children’s and BMX. All their products are accessible through their website and are purchasable online.
We think the brands that they usually carry are top-notch, such as Trek, Yeti, Kona, Giant, and Electra.
What we appreciate most about this store is that they offer free shipping for all Canada orders above 130 CAD. On top of this, they also perform services relating to cycling.
Their store and annex hours are not that coordinated as well. While this can be understandable, it makes things a little inconvenient and confusing for potential customers.
Sweet’s Bike Shop has professionals that can assist you in terms of bicycle service and repair. You can also schedule a bike fitting with them to ensure that you are comfortable and secure with your ride.
Pros
- Over 20 years in the business
- Sells different bicycle types
- Holds bikes of top-notch brands
- Free shipping for orders above 130 CAD within Canada
Cons
- Inconsistent customer service
- Store and annex hours are uncoordinated

Great selection of items
I had a great first shopping experience at your store yesterday. Such a great selection of items, and the service was outstanding! I spoke to several of your staff about a possible upcoming bike trip, and they all took time to answer my questions, show me appropriate equipment. I live in North York but it was definitely worth the trip. — Mark D Swartz, via Google
Always so happy with the service and the experience
I’ve been buying all of my bike gear at Sweet Pete’s exclusively since moving to Toronto over a year ago. I am always so happy with the service and the experience when shopping here. Thanks so much to all of the staff, I think we’ve mostly worked with Brent, great shop overall! — Andrea Quigley, via Google
2. Pedalinx Bike Shop
SELECTION OF BICYCLES | ★★★★☆ |
QUALITY OF PRODUCTS | ★★★★★ |
EXPERIENCE | ★★★★★ |
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION | ★★★★☆ |
Being in the business for 50 years, Pedalinx Bike Shop is one of the most trusted bike shops in Canada. They have two locations, one in Toronto and one in Mississauga.
The 3,500 square foot store of Pedalinx Bike Shop makes it a good choice for indoor shopping as it showcases different products relating to cycling. They highlight products from Specialized, a brand known for its innovative bicycles and cycling equipment.
In terms of their selection, we would say that they are pretty diverse. However, we note that they seem to have fewer choices and stocks compared to other shops in the area.
We’ve heard a few customer complaints about staff members not delivering well, which is quite alarming. We do note that this isn’t the same for everyone and they have way more positive feedback than the negative ones.
Price-wise, everything seems to be fair. They also have a “buy one, get one” promotion for tires as of writing. Customers can also purchase gift cards from this store. The card can be priced anywhere between 12 CAD to 1,200 CAD.
Online shopping is also available and shipping rates aren’t that costly.
Overall, we recommend Pedalinx Bike Shop given their tenure and sales record. They have delivered many bicycles, parts, and accessories to many clients and have been doing well in general.
Pros
- 50 years experience
- Large store
- Gift cards are available
Cons
- Few customer service complaints
- Shorter hours during weekends

They gave me a great deal
Amazing staff and truly helpful. Recently bought an end-of-season bike and they gave me a great deal as well as letting me pay in installments with no interest. Cannot recommend enough. They know they’re stuff and genuinely want people to walk away happy — Roderick Spender, via Google
They offer free lifetime tuneups when you buy a bike
I love this place. Every time I go in, the guys are lovely and they always give me a deal. They also looked at my derailleur for free, right when I walked in. I bought my bike from a large bike chain (which shall remain unnamed), and wish I’d bought from Pedalinx, as they said they would have given me a better deal, and probably would have thrown in skewers and a bottle cage. Plus, they offer free lifetime tuneups when you buy a bike. They’re also one of the few places with employees who aren’t patronizing (a common experience for ladies in Toronto bike shops, I find). Highly recommend! — Penelope G, via Google
3. Urbane Cyclist
SELECTION OF BICYCLES | ★★★★☆ |
QUALITY OF PRODUCTS | ★★★★☆ |
EXPERIENCE | ★★★★★ |
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION | ★★★★☆ |
Urbane Cyclist is a worker owned business that started as early as 1997. They are celebrating 25 years of service as of writing.
What we like most about this service is that they have a lot of items under bicycle parts and tools, which puts them a little above other stores.
Their list of available bicycles is good as well, having road, mountain, children’s, and even folding bikes. They also have quality bike frames up for sale.
Bicycle clothing is also available here, such as jackets, warmers, shorts, and even signature urbane cyclist cycling caps.
We like how they keep their website updated and convenient enough for online shopping. They even have a blog to educate and inform customers about what they do and how they can assist those who are into cycling.
Honestly, the only negative thing we can say about this store is that they are sometimes overpriced. This is in terms of the products they sell as well as repair or service.
They are also closed during Sundays, which can make them lose potential customers.
All said, Urbane Cyclist is a relatively good shop for those who want hip and cool cycling stuff. Just make sure you set a budget before visiting their store.
Pros
- 25 years in the business
- Many bicycle parts and tools for sale
- Have their own line of cycling caps
- Updated website
Cons
- Several overpriced items and services
- Closed on Sundays

Extremely knowledgeable and really understand their products
My go- to for all things bike related. I can’t express how amazing the staff are. They are extremely knowledgeable and really understand their products. From bike bells to the intricacies of how a frame is manufactured. The expertise doesn’t come at the expense of approachability. Super friendly staff who are excited for your next ride! — Julian Gray, via Google
Knowledgeable, professional and personable
Fantastic experience getting a bike that suits my needs. The person who helped me was very knowledgeable, professional and personable. I’ve been going to Urbane Cyclist for around 15 years for bikes (two), accessories and repairs and have always been impressed with their products and wonderful service. My most recent experience there, buying a new bike in October 2020, was as great as all of my past visits to Urbane; they’re solid! — Isabella Butscher, via Google
4. Gears Bike Shop Toronto
SELECTION OF BICYCLES | ★★★★☆ |
QUALITY OF PRODUCTS | ★★★★☆ |
EXPERIENCE | ★★★★★ |
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION | ★★★★☆ |
With 4 locations across Ontario, Gears Bike Shop has grown to be one of the most reliable cycling brands in the area and arguably in the entire Canada. This business started as a small bicycle repair shop in a garage in 1988.
The entire brand is recognized as a premier bike shop, with the Toronto branch carrying cycling apparel that can even be used as work out gear.
Probably the best thing about Gears Bike Shop is their focus on finding the best bike for every customer. They initially ask patrons to choose from urban, e-bike, road bike, mountain bike, or kids bike to know which actual unit to recommend.
Given their reputation as a premier shop, we do warn that this isn’t the most affordable store for cyclists. They announce changes in their rates depending on the brands they carry as well.
The influx of orders also causes them to have delayed service, with turnaround time as late as 14 days.
On the bright side, they offer an extended service package for all bikes they sell. This additional cost guarantees 2 years of extended service for your purchased unit.
They also hold premium tools, helmets, fenders, and even security items for bicycles.
Gears Bike Shop is open daily, with shorter working hours during Sundays. They have a nice, well-lit, and walkable store ideal for shopping.
Pros
- More than 30 years experience
- Focused on finding the best bike for each customer
- Offers an extended 2-year service package
Cons
- Prices often go up
- Occasional late turnaround
Customer Reviews
They genuinely care and are passionate about what they do
Extremely knowledgeable mechanics who will give your bike all the time it deserves, even when there is a line up and 10 pairs of eyes impatiently watching them troubleshoot problems. Well staffed, impeccable customer service and experience, regardless of what bicycle you are riding. Definitely one of the best experiences I have had in a bike shop. They genuinely care and are passionate about what they do — Yinky Chan, via Google
More than helpful
I recently purchased an indoor trainer from the King location and the team at Gears was more than helpful making sure I was able to use it seamlessly at home. A special shoutout to mechanic Mike for taking the time to show me how to mount my bike on the trainer properly. As someone fairly new to cycling this was immensely helpful. I won’t even consider looking elsewhere for futute tune-ups and other cycling needs. — Richard Yelland, via Google
5. Bike Depot
SELECTION OF BICYCLES | ★★★★☆ |
QUALITY OF PRODUCTS | ★★★★☆ |
EXPERIENCE | ★★★★★ |
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION | ★★★★☆ |
Bike Depot has been around since 1994 and has been able to put up 3 branches all over Ontario.
This shop takes pride in their easy returns and their list of top cycling brands. They carry 4 top-notch cycling brands namely Giant, Cannondale, Santa Cruz, and Specialized, which is a tad fewer than other stores.
Membership is offered at Bike Depot. Signing up with them means access to discounts, weekly rides, and a skills clinic where a cyclist of any level can learn from fellow bike enthusiasts.
What we find inconvenient about this shop is that they do not have an updated list of stocks. Sometimes, an item that is out of stock is still displayed on their website, which can really be a hassle for customers who place orders.
A few patrons also say that they sometimes do not have the exact part needed for a bike’s repair and would need to wait for new deliveries.
The good thing is that they provide free shipping for orders above 120 CAD and a standard shipping rate as low as 19 CAD. We like the fact that they strive to push 3-7 days delivery for most of their orders.
In conclusion, we think that Bike Depot is a good place for cycling equipment. They offer quality items for a good value and are reliable enough in the field.
Pros
- 28 years in the business
- Free shipping for orders above 120 CAD
- Has a membership program
Cons
- Stocks are not updated
- Shorter hours during weekends
Customer Reviews
Good value. Great bike.
I held off reviewing until I’d not just purchased a bicycle, but put some kilometres on it. Delighted with my experience with Bike Depot. Friendly and knowledgeable in guiding my purchase. Good value. Great bike. But almost better than that is their after-care/free maintenance. I’ve dropped in twice to get their advice on the bike. They’ve tuned it in the moment and given me mini-tutorials without making me feel like a dunce (even though I’m sure I’m asking novice questions). Great choice, great products and great customer service. — Tobias Everett, via Google
Friendly and knowledgeable staff!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff! Almost overwhelmingly HUGE variety of bicycles to choose from. — Lauren Christerra, via Google
