5 Best Language Schools in Toronto That Make Learning Feel Easy (And Fun!)

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Expertise - We chose language schools that have experienced teachers, strong academic backgrounds, and a proven record of helping students succeed.

Course Variety - We looked for schools that offer different programs, from beginner to advanced, plus options like business language or exam prep.

Flexibility - We included schools that offer flexible schedules, online options, or part-time classes to suit busy learners.

Reputation - We considered schools that have great reviews and positive word-of-mouth from past students.

Value for Money - We highlighted schools that balance quality teaching and reasonable tuition, so students truly get what they pay for.

DIY language learning can feel boring—an endless series of apps, grammar drills, and YouTube videos. At least, that’s what my friend told me after a week of self-study, so I suggested she enroll in a language school.

After just a month or so, she could already order food in French! Having structured lessons and practicing with other students can really help you learn a language easily.

If you also want to speak a foreign language fluently, here are the best schools in Toronto to check out ASAP.

How much does language school tuition cost in Toronto?

In Toronto, language school tuition may cost around $150 to $400 per week, depending on the school, class size, and program length.

Many schools provide package deals and discounts if you book for several months.

In 2004, CLLC Toronto was founded by Aly Rajab, who left a thriving career in Saudi Arabia to pursue an Executive MBA in Halifax. That leap of faith led him to create this language school designed for international students who want to learn English.

Their most accessible option is their Online English Conversation classes. These are budget-friendly and focus on helping students practice speaking in a stress-free way.

They have an on-site class option for business professionals, too. Their Business English program focuses on language used in workplace settings, like meetings, presentations, and even casual networking.

And if grammar is your weak spot, simply sign up for their Grammar Workshop.

Sure, their onsite classes might be a bit pricey, but we feel like their affordable virtual classes provide a nice balance of offerings.

The best school to learn English!

“The best school to learn English! CLLC is a small school in the downtown area, but it’s great for building connections between teachers and students. The staff members are friendly and caring, always looking out for students. I truly enjoyed each class and could see improvements in my English, even though it was only a short-term stay. They offer a variety of activities after school, taking students to places like parks, museums, and charming cafes. I’m so confident that you can make many friends through these activities, not just in class! Choosing CLLC was the best decision I made. Thank you for everything, and my time in Toronto was totally awesome !!<3”

For more than 20 years, the International Language Academy of Canada has been one of the most recognizable names when it comes to language schools in Canada.

We like how ILAC separates its English programs by age groups. Adults 18+ can dive into General English programs, professionals 30+ get tailored Business English courses, and teens 15 to 18 can sign up for Young Adult English Programs.

Beginner to intermediate Adult French online classes are offered as well. Unfortunately, we heard that sometimes, their French teachers seemed unprepared for lessons, so that’s something to keep in mind.

As for students looking for a “home away from home,” they have a Homestay Program, which includes a private or shared room and two or three meals a day.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Offers English programs by age groups
  • Has Adult French online classes
  • Provides a Homestay Program

Cons

“ILAC is certainly the best English school. I really enjoyed all the time I spent there. All the staff, teachers, and everyone are incredible, helpful, and they do their best for each student. Especially my first teacher Sean Orchad, who helped me a lot, but all the other teachers are amazing!”

One of the best language schools in Toronto

“Kaplan is considered one of the best language schools in Toronto, offering a diverse cultural environment and amazing experiences. The school respects all religions and cultures. There was a dedicated prayer room, and during Ramadan, there was a booth explaining the significance of this holy month for Muslims. I would like to thank the administration and teachers.”

5. Bayswater

Website: https://www.bayswater.ac/en

Contact Details: (416) 223-7855

Business Hours: Mon – Fri: 8:30 AM – 5 PM

Bayswater has been around for more than 70 years. Their mission? To inspire and help global explorers explore new cultures.

English and French are both offered here, and they’re taught in a variety of formats. There’s General Language for everyday fluency, Business Language for workplace settings, Exam Prep for IELTS or DELF, and One-to-One Lessons.

We like their use of the Mediation Assessment method, which emphasizes conversation over rigid testing. This encourages students to engage, share ideas, and develop confidence in speaking—something traditional schools overlook.

You can also download free online resources from their website, such as their Progression Chart, which can help track your learning.

Not everything is rosy, however. We heard about teachers who can come across as rude, which might affect the confidence of the students.

Pros

  • Over 70 years of experience
  • Teaches English and French
  • Offers a wide range of class formats
  • Uses the Mediation Assessment method
  • Free downloadable online resources

Cons

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had!

“Studying at Bayswater was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! The school has great facilities, highly qualified teachers, and a welcoming atmosphere that truly makes a difference in the learning process. The classes are dynamic and focused on real-life communication, which really helped me build confidence in speaking English. I also had the chance to meet people from all over the world, which made the experience even more enriching. I highly recommend Bayswater to anyone looking to learn or improve their English in an amazing environment!”
