Around a year ago, my best friend practically begged me to hire a home energy auditor. Why? Because the one they brought on helped them save hundreds of dollars!
Back then, I told them I’d think it over, but I never really got around to it—until a couple of months ago, when I had the time to arrange a visit.
After implementing his recommendations, I’m happy to report that my monthly bill has gone down 10%. And yes, I absolutely want to kick myself for not hiring one sooner.
So, don’t be like me. Choose one of the top home energy auditors in Toronto below to help shrink your energy costs pronto.
How much do home energy audits cost in Toronto?
In Toronto, home energy audits cost around $600, with a follow-up audit often around $300. These prices can be offset by rebates like Enbridge’s $550 rebate toward pre- and post-audit costs.
If you go through a government-approved program, you may be reimbursed for the full audit fee.
1. Goldfinch Energy

Goldfinch Energy is led by Sarah, a MURB-certified energy advisor who has completed over 500 audits. She’s also certified in HRAI’s Residential Heat Loss/Gain Calculations and is working toward her Net Zero certification.
Her team’s process begins with a home assessment; they perform insulation checks by removing outlet covers, and use thermal imaging when the weather’s cold enough.
Then comes the leakage test—they point out drafts around your home, even letting you feel leaky areas for yourself. They calculate heat loss from there based on the measurements and data they collected.
A helpful perk is their affiliation with Energy Werx Corp., giving you access to their Home Renovation Savings rebate program for an added fee. But their rebate options are fairly limited compared to other companies.
Highly professional, friendly, and thorough
“Trish and Sarah were a pleasure to deal with—highly professional, friendly, and thorough. While Sarah was performing the energy audit, she even helped assess an unrelated flooring issue we discovered in the basement and referred me to a local waterproofing specialist who could help. She was very generous with her time and sent a comprehensive report shortly after the visit. I’d 10/10 recommend this company to others!”

Truly cares about helping homeowners reduce energy use
“Cannot recommend Goldfinch Energy more — they were patient, practical, and trustworthy. The founders, Trish and Sarah, truly care about helping homeowners reduce energy use. Our main challenge was a room that didn’t get proper AC/heat — they took the time to answer all my questions during the energy audit and gave us recommendations that made the most sense for us (including not moving forward with a few things that would have earned them more). They also recommended other great contractors to work with. Would definitely work with them again.”

Armed with a certification from NRCan, Canada EnerExpert has performed over 5,000 energy audits. I guess it’s safe to say they’ve already mastered what they do.
A top-to-bottom home inspection is performed first; they go through each area carefully and conduct a blower door test to measure heat loss.
Afterward, you’ll receive a full energy evaluation report. It covers pretty much everything: air tightness, insulation performance, ventilation, HVAC status, the works.
Here’s the fun part—you get access to rebates that are worth up to $5,000 for upgrades that you want to implement based on their detailed write-up. Believe me when I say that this would be a huge difference in your budget.
Just make sure to double-check your paperwork because some clients have complained about incomplete documentation on their reports, delaying rebates.
If I could give this company 10 stars, I would!
“If I could give this company 10 stars, I would! They were quick to respond to my request for a post-energy audit. I was given an appointment within a week and had my report within 48 hours. What more could I ask for? I would highly recommend Daniel at Canada Enerexpert!”

Pre- and post-inspections were done quickly
“I had a solar system installed, and Daniel was recommended for my energy audit by Solar-X. Daniel is very good, efficient, and timely in his responses. The pre- and post-inspections were done quickly/easily, and Daniel was attentive to the questions I had. I would hire Daniel again, and you should too! A++ review!”

Green Canada Home Advisors has earned official distinction and endorsement from NRCan, which is a great sign right out of the gate. Their mission is to help create a sustainable future for generations to come.
You have to admit, the fact that they’ve conducted over 13,800 home energy audits is quite impressive.
Expect their assessments to be quite detailed, thanks to their extensive toolkit that includes blower doors, moisture meters, and gas leak detectors.
And if you need a bit of leeway financially, they can help you receive rebates or join government programs. A popular one is the Canada Greener Homes Loan, offering up to $40,000 in interest-free financing for energy-efficient upgrades.
While this is a fantastic opportunity, you may want to track your application status carefully; we heard complaints about full rebate amounts not being received.
Provided an excellent energy audit service
“Green Canada provided an excellent energy audit service! The team was knowledgeable, professional, and thorough in assessing our energy usage. They suggested practical and cost-effective solutions to improve our energy efficiency. Highly recommend their services to anyone looking to make their home more sustainable!”

As an NRCan-certified outfit, EnerSolution is committed to providing tailored energy solutions to meet your needs.
Unlike other companies, their energy home audits aren’t limited to standalone properties but also include Multi-Unit Residential Buildings or MURBs.
They also use advanced platforms in energy modeling—HOT 2000, ASHRAE, etc. These mean their audits are based on highly accurate and data-driven analysis.
To tie everything together, their team matches eligible programs to your audit results and renovation goals, making sure you don’t miss out on anything. Toronto HELP, CEIP, Clean Energy Improvement Program—they handle them all.
The only notable downside is the reports of auditors arriving late to scheduled sessions. While not really a dealbreaker, we think this is kind of unprofessional on their end.
Incredibly fast, professional, and kind
“I had an amazing experience with EnerSolution Inc. for my home energy audit. They were incredibly fast, professional, and kind throughout the entire process. I was in a time crunch trying to apply for the Greener Homes Loan program before it closed, and their team went above and beyond to help me meet the deadline.”

Amazing people, amazing customer service
“Amazing people, amazing customer service. They sent auditors to my house, in the Niagara region, where it’s not easy to book an energy audit appointment, specifically in the coldest days of the year! And they got approvals for my heat pump rebate!”

Such an amazing and excellent energy auditor
“Such an amazing and excellent energy auditor. I learned a lot as he explained thoroughly how the upgrades would impact the overall efficiency of my home. Highly recommended.”

He was professional, efficient, and informative
“Chung performed both initial and final energy audits for my home. He was professional, efficient, and informative – recommending upgrades needed to qualify for the government energy programs. As soon as I informed GIEC of the completed upgrades, Chung promptly returned for the final assessment. Reports for both assessments were delivered much faster than expected, which was a relief, as I have heard horror stories with other companies taking weeks and months to finalize. Overall, the process was smooth and seamless. Thank you, Chung!”
