Everyone knows that the best pizzas are in Little Italy, the most amazing curries are in Little India, and the best Greek food is in—you guessed it—Greektown (otherwise known as Danforth).
True to its name, it’s home to the only Greek restaurants worth visiting in Toronto! These spots serve fresh souvlaki, creamy tzatziki, golden baklava, juicy gyros—I could just go on and on.
But don’t just take my word for it—I mean, where’s the fun in that? Grab your friends and visit the top Greek eateries in my guide for delicious and authentic flavors.

Must-Order: Kalamari Gemisto
Named after the abundance of appetizers they serve, Mezes is known for freshly made dips and warm pita bread. Their pita is actually made from scratch—light, thin, soft, and stretchy, which you can swap out for cucumber slices for a gluten-free option.
My favorite dish? Their Kalamari Gemisto. This lightly battered fried calamari is so addictive, with a perfect crisp coating on the outside and tender, juicy squid inside—and it’s not greasy at all!
Fun fact: People can’t get enough of their signature dips, so they opened an online Greek Market to make them accessible to everyone. You can also snag goodies like red wine vinegar, sea salts, and more.
I love the vibe inside—it’s giving cozy Greek taverna. The ceiling is painted a calming sky blue, and you can see iron, stone, and tile all around—stuff you’d normally see in old-school Mediterranean eateries.
Pro Tip:
For a touch of drama (perfect for dates or special occasions), order Mezes’ Saganaki. The thick kefalograviera cheese triangle is flambeed tableside with brandy and finished off with a squeeze of lemon—definitely a showstopper!

Must-Order: Kokkinisto Veal in Tomato Sauce
For over 40 years, Athens Restaurant has perfected the art of Greek cooking. Their secret? They never compromise on quality, sourcing only fresh ingredients from local farmers’ markets.
One dish that keeps me coming back here is their Kokkinisto Veal in Tomato Sauce. It’s slow-cooked in a rich, tomato sauce packed with traditional Greek spices—yum! If lamb’s more your thing, you can’t go wrong with their Village Lamb.
For those with special dietary needs, they also offer gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options, which are just as delicious.
In the summer, their lovely patio is open. Just make sure to arrive early to snag a spot since it fills up fast, especially on sunny weekends.

Must-Order: Grilled Calamari
Pantheon has been offering authentic Green cuisine in the heart of Danforth since 1997. They’re especially known for their fresh seafood, sourced from the waters of Greece.
Speaking of which, I love their Grilled Calamari—it’s light and juicy, plus, you get that smoky char and natural sweetness of the squid. What’s cool is that all their seafood dinners come with Greek salad, steamed veggies, and roast potatoes.
When the weather is nice, their street-side patio is the perfect spot. There’s something so relaxing about sitting outside with a cold drink and fresh seafood.
Keep in mind that their patio can only accommodate parties of up to four people. So, if you’re dining with a bigger group, their dining room will happily seat you all together.

Must-Order: Roast Lamb
Salonika Estiatorio is named after Thessaloniki, the Macedonian princess and daughter of King Phillip II of Macedonia. It’s known for serving authentic Greek dishes fit for royalty.
If there’s one dish you have to try here, it’s their signature Roast Lamb. Served with salad, roasted potatoes, and veggies, this tender and juicy dish feels like something out of a Greek family kitchen.
Watch out for their great value deals, too! For instance, they have a Dinner for Two special, where you’ll get two chicken sticks, pork sticks, Greek salads, rice, and potatoes, and you’ll be saving over 10 bucks.
For parties, they offer a simple catering menu that features faves like souvlaki, rice, potatoes, salads, and fresh vegetables.
Pro Tip:
Since they offer a Pre-Fixed Dinner, Salonika is a perfect spot for a leisurely dinner date. It starts with three cold dips and salad, followed by mains like seafood linguini, chicken breast, or their famous lamb, and of course, dessert!

Must-Order: Santorini Chicken
Soulas Modern Greek Cuisine has a menu devoted to the Mediterranean diet, so you’ll find lots of light, fresh dishes, seafood, and vegetarian options.
Try their Santorini Chicken; tender chicken stuffed with spinach and feta cheese, smothered in a white wine rosemary cream sauce. It’s served over garlic mashed potatoes, toasted carrots, and Swiss chard—talk about homey!

Hours: Mon – Sun: 12 PM – 10 PM

Must-Order: Beef Gyro
Messini Authentic Gyros is hands down Greektown’s gyro king, and it’s easy to see why. They’ve been serving hulking pita wraps since 2002, which put them on the map.
All gyro meat is shaved fresh from the spit. My favorite is the Beef Gyro—it arrives in a huge pita stuffed with juicy beef, French fries, onions, and tomatoes, along with their homemade garlicky tzatziki sauce.
Can’t decide which meat to get? Go for their combination meals—they offer mixed lamb and beef for just an $8 upgrade!
We like that even though it could get busy during the dinner rush, you won’t have to wait long. Their service is lightning fast, so your order will be ready in no time.
Pro Tip:
Don’t skip Messini’s famous Greek fries! Instead of regular fries, their version is a plate of thick, round potato slices baked until tender, topped with salty feta cheese.
