I was set to go to Thailand for a week when I found out that my usual petsitter (whom I usually leave Peepers with when I travel) had moved to Winnipeg. Darn!

So, I started low-key panicking—I mean, I had to find someone totally trustworthy to leave my most precious baby to. Afterward, I took a deep breath and sat down, determined to look for the best pet hotel in Toronto.

While nursing a large cup of coffee, I pored over reviews and searched for Reddit recos. I even messaged former clients about their experiences and looked at pet hotel pics—the whole research shebang.

After a few hours, I had it—to my fellow fur parents out there, here are the most reliable pet hotels in the city that most locals recommend. You’re so welcome!

How much do pet hotels cost in Toronto?

Pet hotels in Toronto normally cost $50 to $120 per night. Basic boarding usually starts around $30 to $45, while more premium, boutique-style stays with extras like grooming, one-on-one playtime, or luxury suites can hit $70 to $90.

Cats are generally cheaper to board than dogs. Some spots also offer daycare rates or discounts for longer stays.

1. The Tail Wag Hotel

Business Address: 285 Garden Ave
Website: https://tailwaghotel.com/
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tailwaghotel/
Contact Details: (416) 895-9235
Business Hours: Mon – Sun: 9 AM – 9 PM

The Tail Wag Hotel is run by the lovely Punnett family: Daniel (who has been a dog trainer for 12 years), Adora (a psychotherapist), and their son Mio. Their goal is to provide a cozy, homestay for your pups.

They charge $80 per night for standard boarding, with a few extra fees if your dog needs more attention (high-needs pups can expect a $10 to $20 bump per night). Puppies under 1 year are an additional $5, and holiday stays go up to $95.

Yes, their services are on the pricier side, but to be fair, your dogs will get one-on-one attention in a homey setting.

Doggy daycare, dog walking, and obedience classes are offered, too. And if transportation is a hassle, they provide pick-up and drop-off services—a huge bonus for busy pet parents.

Pros

  • Owned by a dog trainer & psychotherapist
  • Offers standard boarding with add-ons
  • Offers daycare, walking, & obedience classes
  • Provides pick-up and drop-off services

Cons

  • Pricey

If I could give them 10 stars, I would

“I cannot say enough about the Tail Wag Hotel. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. We had leaf tickets and wanted to make a night of it downtown, but needed someone to look after George, our French Spaniel puppy. We jokingly call him Velcro because he is attached at the hip to my husband. We were nervous to leave him for the night, but quickly realized he was in the best care with Sam sending us pictures and updates throughout the night. When we picked George up the next morning, he had just come back from a long walk, and while he was happy to see us, he would have happily stayed with Sam and her pups. Daniel was so great to deal with. It was a seamless process to book everything. We tell everyone about the Tail Wag Hotel. Just a wonderful experience all around. Thank you, Daniel and Sam!”

I can always trust that she is in good hands

“Cannot recommend The Tail Wag enough! Our dog Wrigley has gone for “vacations” with Daniel and Adora since she was 6 months old (just turned two!). She always has the best time, and Daniel and Adora provide us with constant updates while she is there. I can always trust that she is in good hands and well taken care of (she actually went to see the cherry blossoms in the spring on her last “trip”). If you’re looking for daycare or boarding in the city, this is the place to be!”

Website: https://torontojunctiondogboarding.com/
Contact Details: (416) 825-3602
Business Hours:

  • Mon – Fri: 10 AM – 6 PM
  • Saturday: 10 AM – 4 PM

Toronto Junction Dog Boarding is owned by Eddie, who started this service in 2023 after the heartbreaking loss of his beloved pup of 15 years. What started as casual dog-sitting for family and neighbors quickly turned into a passion project.

Located right next to Symington Park Garden, Eddie’s three-bedroom house has a fenced yard for safe play, and five parks (including High Park) within walking distance.

Dogs get up to three walks a day, and the small group setup—only three dogs per night—means your pet gets personalized attention and lots of space.

One thing to note: They only take long-term bookings (minimum of 10 nights per year).

But we think they’re worth the commitment since Eddie is certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. Plus, he’s quite generous—10% of all fees go to a local pet charity.

Pros

  • Certified in Pet CPR and First Aid
  • Three-bedroom house with a fenced yard
  • Five parks within walking distance
  • Dogs get up to three walks a day
  • Only three dogs per night
  • 10% of all fees go to a local pet charity

Cons

  • Only takes long-term bookings

Wonderful, safe, and loving home away from home

“Toronto Junction Dog Boarding is a wonderful, safe, and loving home away from home. It is easy to get to and close to great parks. Our dog Archie loves being there. He greets Eddie with jumping circles only reserved for those he loves the most. My husband and I highly recommend Toronto Junction Dog Boarding.”

Very accommodating of Clover’s mobility needs due to her arthritis

“We recently had the pleasure of leaving our dog, Clover, in Eddie’s care, and the experience was great! Clover was happy and well-cared-for throughout her stay. Eddie kept in touch regularly and sent us numerous updates and pictures, which was a tremendous comfort, especially since this was Clover’s first long trip away from us since before COVID. He was also very accommodating of Clover’s mobility needs due to her arthritis. He was attentive and ensured she was comfortable, even providing a wagon for her use if needed 🧡 We couldn’t be happier with the care Clover received and highly recommend Eddie to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate dog boarder!”

3. Parker Pet Care

Business Address: 68 Floral Pkwy
Website: https://www.parkerpetcare.com/

Contact Details: (416) 241-4697
Business Hours:

  • Mon – Fri: 7 AM – 7 PM
  • Saturday: 8 AM – 4 PM
  • Sunday: 10 AM – 6 PM

Since 1945, Parker Pet Care has provided not only dog boarding but also cat lodging services, unlike other pet hotels, which cater only to pups.

Dogs get access to large outdoor play areas, with options like group play, one-on-one sessions, or peaceful walks. Meanwhile, cats live in a separate, quiet building that’s clean and bright, designed just for them.

New clients get awesome perks too: a free facility tour every day of the week, a complimentary training evaluation, and even a free day of daycare.

As a bonus, grooming services are available as add-ons.

They seem pretty great—that’s why we were disappointed to hear about hygiene issues and limited outside time for dogs. I suggest taking advantage of that tour to check out their digs, as well as ask questions about their current practices.

Pros

  • Over 85 years of experience
  • Separate facilities for dogs and cats
  • Access to large outdoor play areas
  • New clients get various freebies
  • Offers grooming services

Cons

  • Issues with hygiene and outside time

They truly care about your pet

“Great staff!! They truly care about your pet. The pictures and updates shared in the Report Card show that they truly spend time with your pet and share the updates. My dog is always ready to go back as soon as we leave!!”

Great facilities for kitties and dogs

“Amazing experience at Parker Pet Care North York from booking, drop off, communication, and pick up. Our vet recommended our two cats, one of which suffers from anxiety and needs medication. I could tell when I saw their space that our cats would be fine during our vacation. They stayed 10 days. We picked them up today, and they are doing great. Super friendly staff and great facilities for kitties and dogs. Also ran into other pet owners in reception who confirmed they’re regular clients and very happy after many failed attempts in other places. Highly recommend.”

4. Park9

Contact Details: (416) 361-1037
Business Hours:

  • Mon – Fri: 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Saturday: 9 AM – 5 PM

For over 20 years, Park9 has provided the GTA (from their two locations) with daycare, grooming, and boarding services for cats and dogs

For dogs, they offer slumber rooms, personal overnight suites, and resort-style amenities. We’re talking massive indoor and outdoor play areas, feeding suites, fancy lighting, top-tier air filtration, and even a UV-filtered indoor pool.

Cats get the royal treatment in their separate cat wing. Each kitty suite has its own air supply, and the cat area is decked out with floor-to-ceiling lofts, bird-watching windows, beds, a climbing wall, and playtime with an attendant.

As a cherry on top, feedings and medications are all included. Add-ons like grooming are offered too—no cage dryers, just natural-based products.

Sadly, we heard about their low staffing ratios, which might mean less individual attention.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Cat and dog boarding services
  • Huge indoor and outdoor play areas
  • UV-filtered indoor pool & feeding suites
  • Bird-watching windows and lofts
  • Feedings and medications included
  • Also offers grooming services

Cons

  • Reports of low staffing ratios

Our puppy loves coming here!

“Our puppy loves coming here! The staff all show they love and care for every dog that visits, and the owner is so knowledgeable and gives us helpful and honest advice. We’ve taken our dog here for daycare, boarding, and grooming, and everyone always comes home happily exhausted. (picture is of our dog post-grooming).”

Everyone at the dog park recommended them

“THE BEST!!! We just moved to Toronto, and we went from a house to a tiny 1 br. I have a deaf, partially blind great pyr mix (120 lbs) and a crazy heeler mix. I was nervous to put them in daycare or board them because transparency in dog care isn’t always the best, but oh my gosh, I am so glad that I found Park9. Everyone at the dog park recommended them, and now I know why. The staff is absolutely FABULOUS. They are clearly super well-educated on dog behavior and care, and they are very proactive with questions and anticipating what my dogs need. I really liked the meet and greet process that eased us into the facility, and it made me feel really comfortable that the other dogs were well-screened. My dogs are happy and exhausted when they come home, and I can finally get some peace and quiet 🙂 I wish every daycare were like this, truly the gold standard. Thank you to the awesome employees at Park9.”

Business Hours:

  • Mon – Fri: 7 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Saturday: 8 AM – 7 PM

Beverly Hills Doggie Hotel has been around for over 8 years, offering a safe, supervised play, learning, and boarding hub.

Dogs are assigned a standard room (15 sq. ft.) separated by walls with gated entrances, and only hang out in them during meals or nap time. The private suites are meant for larger breeds, solo loungers, or multiple pets from the same family.

Temperature-wise, they keep it at a comfy 20 degrees Celsius. There are also cameras in every room for your total peace of mind.

We love that the facility is cleaned and disinfected twice daily using pet-safe products.

A downside we heard about—some dogs apparently got sick after staying here, which could be a huge red flag. For your peace of mind, you should ask about this issue during your meet-and-greet or tour.

Pros

  • Over 8 years of experience
  • Has standard and private suites
  • 20 degrees Celsius temperature
  • Cameras in every room
  • Cleaned and disinfected twice daily

Cons

  • Reports of dogs getting sick

WOW … What an amazing boarding experience !!!

“WOW … What an amazing boarding experience !!! Tatiana and her team at Beverly Hills Doggie Hotel did an amazing job taking care of my two tiny dogs (Chihuahua & Mini Pomeranian, under 8lbs). Tatiana kept me up to date on how they were doing via pics and text through WhatsApp, as we were on vacation in Mexico for over a week. Upon pick up, both my dogs were so very happy and playful, you could tell they had an amazing time. Especially since both my dogs are seniors who require medication administration 2x a day, I could tell they were well looked after! Tatiana (owner) herself is such a LOVELY person! She was very patient with all the instructions I provided in regards to medication administration, and very easy to communicate with. I felt very comfortable leaving them in her care. Thank you, Tatiana and staff, for providing such outstanding service.”

This is officially Joey’s second home

“I came across Beverly Hills Doggie Hotel, and I’m grateful that I did. I took my dog Joey here to be taken care of for the night due to an important family event, and I would like to thank Alyona and her wonderful staff for taking care of my little pooch as if he were at home. I called someone at night (Alyona, I think) to check up on Joey to see how he was doing, and she said everything was fine and that he was very friendly with the other dogs. This is officially Joey’s second home if we ever go on vacation and need a pair of loving hands to take care of my little brother. Highly recommend! 👍🏻🐶😉.”
